You really don’t have to worry about any of that while staying at a resort.

I stayed right outside of Cancun, and while you see guns (police carrying guns at check points), they tended to make me feel more safe than scared.

It’s really nothing to think twice about.

@KateByDesign:  I agree. I have never felt unsafe in Cancun. People can (and do) get murdered anywhere.

We have been to mexico several times in the past few years and are going again in March. We have never had anything to be worried about.

I think Cancun is generally fine! It’s the border cities (like juarez) that are a concern. But I don’t think Juarez is a popular honeymoon destination lol

It’s not a problem. If you go to the border towns to cause trouble, you’ll find it… not at a resort.

I’ve been twice. I felt very safe. Honestly I’ve felt a lot less safe in the city I live in, here in Canada!

Just use common sense, stay around the resort, and you’ll be fine. Like any other place, there are good and bad parts of the country.

It’s absolutely fine. You don’t have to worry about drug cartels murdering tourists.

My family and I go to Cancun every year for vacation. We go to the Omni Hotel and Resorts and I have never felt unsafe there. We have even rode a bus to a different hotel so we could go on a sailboat ride and had some of the residents that was riding the bus also help us find the place. So from what Ive expirienced in Cancun, I would say its safe. I plan to go to Cancun for my honeymoon too.

@amandasouthcarolina:  I go to Cancun twice a year and have never had a problem. Never, ever, ever. I stay in the nice areas and I stay at nice hotels. I do go to the markets and restaurants and still, nothing. It is safe… just don’t be dumb.

I wouldn’t worry about it at a resort. Just don’t go to sketchy areas.
