Earlier this year I went on an amazing family trip (without FI) to Mayan Riveria. It was wonderful! Not a complaint and we even had 2 days of crap weather.
I would LOVE to go their for our honeymoon but our wedding is early September and I am so scared for crappy weather.
I have tried surfing the net and get everything from “Avoid May to November” to “we went in september and it rained for 10 minutes a day and weather was perfect”.
Any advice out there? Is there insurance I can get to cover a hurricane?

I wouldn’t let the possiblity of a little rain stop you. You could just look for alternative actvities to do, or have a relaxing day in at a resort on a rainy day.
As for hurricanes, I live in Florida and it feels like it’s always hurricane season (which doesn’t actually = non-stop rain, more like blazing heat). We’re thinking of doing our honeymoon in Key West and when I went to look at hotel prices/vacation packages, they all give you the option to back out with a full refund as late as 24 hours before check-in. So if there is a hurricane you could just reschedule.
