Hello,
Im getting married 4/23/2011 in Detroit, can't wait!!!
Ceremony at Central United Methodist & Reception at the Atheneum :-)
Hi girls! I'm from East Lansing. No wedding plans yet, but getting very close to a proposal ;)
And will most likely be getting married in 2012 when I am 23 and completely finished with school!
HI!
I'm 22, planning a September 16, 2011 wedding with the ceremony at Shrine of the Little Flower and Reception at the Radisson Hotel in Bloomfield hills. I work as a pediatric nurse in Detriot and love my job.
Hey all! Yay for Detroit area Bees! I'm getting married 11/12/11, ceremony in Ferndale and reception in Livonia.
I would love it if there were more local bees. I start to think about all the stuff I have to do, all the vendors we still have to book and I feel lost, especially since I'm the first of my friends to get married, so I don't have a lot of referrals to work with. Eeek! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
@Megrit: hello fellow MI bee! i'm in the troy (work) / macomb (home) / auburn hills (school) area and have a ton of info if you'd like some referrals :) PM me your e-mail!
Hello!
I'm graduating from University of Michigan in May, and then getting married in Beulah, MI on September 3, 2011. I grew up in the metro-Detroit area. I'm going to be deciding about jobs soon, so I might end up somewhere other than Michigan and have to do wedding planning from across the country.
Hi All!
I'm 23 and getting married in metro-detroit too.. just started planning..but I'd love to get more local bees on here!!!
Hello all! I'm 23 and planning a 4/16/2011 wedding in east lansing! I live in East Lansing as well and work at Michigan State University.
I'm moving to chicago in March, though, so I won't be a Michigan bee for long!
Hooray for Michigan Bees! I'm all over the place; native of Kalamazoo, living in Ann Arbor, and having a wedding in Rochester.
How are all of you ladies doing as we wrap up 2010? I'd love to hear about your plans!
Hello Detroit Area Brides!
I wish I would have had this site when I was getting married! My wedding story was the classic fairy tale! It all began when my husband proposed outside a billboard sign at a busy traffic light on the coldest day of the year with a glass slipper. We were married September 4, 2009 at King's Court Castle of Canterbury Village. It was a real fairy tale wedding and reception in a castle! My flower girl still says that her Auntie is a real princess and she got to go to a real ball! :)
I loved the planning so much I started my own company after the wedding! I now have an event design company offering centerpieces, chair covers, linens, backdrops, charger plates and more! This is more than a business to me, it is my true passion! The basis for the business was to create a place where brides can feel comfortable knowing that I was not so long ago in the same shoes as they are! Feeling the same tension and stress about one big day coming together. My team consists of floral designers and well trained event staff so each event runs nearly flawless! If any of my fellow "bee sisters" are in need of anything I'd be more than happy to help or point you in the direction of well recommended vendors in our area!
So wonderful to meet you all! :)
Hi there! I live in AZ but am a Michigan native, and we are marrying in Michigan. So, I consider myself a MI bee! Where did you guys get married?
@mckay1am: we got married at my home church in troy, and had our reception at cherry creek golf club in shelby twp, mi.
it's so nice to see some activity on this thread, maybe we can get some more bees active in our area and setup a bee meet-up in MI?!
@missjyc: For sure! I'd totally be up for a MI gathering. :) BTW - you look absolutely stunning in your photo. Love, love your hair. :)
@tartlet: aww thank you! i am having a wonderful time following your planning/blog! :)
MICHIGAN BEES PM ME please if your active on here! I'd like to get an e-mail circular going so that we can schedule a meetup as soon as it warms up! :)
I just joined (my very first post actually!) and just started planning my wedding. My fiance is in the military so we have a lot of unknowns. It doesn't help that I already feel so clueless about wedding planning in general! I live and work in the Rochester area but I have no idea where our wedding will be!
@moorelove: Yay! Welcome to Weddingbee. :) We're getting married in Rochester! Please feel free to PM me if you have questions. I did a decent amount of hunting in the area and would be happy to share info/experiences with you.
Well, I consider myself a Michigan bee despite the fact that I currently live in Nevada. My fiance and I both grew up in East Lansing (he went to college there but I went to WSU in Detroit) so that's where we're having our wedding. I'm trying to convince FI that we should move back to Michigan; I really do prefer the Midwest. The desert = no bueno!!!
Hello fellow Michigan Bees! I live in the Detroit area, born and raised, as I like to say. I am having a small, intimate wedding/reception, at a location that is yet to be determined. I have June listed as my wedding date in my profile, but that's not entirely true! We don't have a date yet, we just know that it will be this year, and we're super flexible about when it will actually happen. I figure that since the wedding is so small, it shouldn't take that long to plan...right? LOL! Anyway, I'm glad to see that this board is finally getting some action! Looking forward to chatting with all of you!

@Meealissa:I'm fond of the Midwest as well. :) We may be moving in the next couple of months, and I'm so keeping my fingers crossed that we stay in the general area!
@msstilettoheels:We're having a fairly small wedding, too. That's great you two are so flexible! Looking forward to hearing about your wedding plans!
I'm a Michigan Bee living in the Muskegon area. I'm quite a bit older than the other Michigan Bees who've posted.
DH and I got married December 1st, in Savannah, GA... No reason for selecting Savannah other than neither of us had ever been there and it sounded interesting.

@Loribeth: Congratulations! You look gorgeous, and I love your dress. If I may, your husband looks quite dapper as well. :)
@tartlet: Thank you! And I agree--he looks quite dapper! :)
Hi girls!! I am also a Michigan Bee :) I am from Flushing, which seems to be a little North from most of you!
Hi MI Bees. I'm formerly from Cleveland, but now up in the Lapeer area (about an hour north of Detroit). We are planning a small, family-only wedding for August. Excited to see you all here. :)
LOVE that we're getting more activity on this board!
@Celeste07: I think I pass the Flushing exit on field trips to Birch Run...I swear I don't normally base my geography off shopping malls. ;)
@cleve_girl01: Welcome! I'm a big fan of intimate weddings, but I might be slightly biased in that regard. Have you decided on a venue?
@Tartlet- Thanks! I'm looking forward to sharing details! I can't wait until I have actual plans to share!
@Loribeth-I think your pics are gorgeous, and it looks like it was a lovely, intimate ceremony! That is just what I'm striving for! Maybe a few more people, but not too many!
@tartlet: Yep, the venue is one of the few things we knew from the beginning. My FI's parents live in a lake community, and there is a wooded common space with a huge grill we will be using for the reception. I'm hoping to be able to have all the seating outside, but in case of rain there is a small hall. We are doing a small family only wedding, so there will be about 50 guests.
We also found a church we really like, so the ceremony will be there.
I'm so excited to see so many MI bees buzzing around the hive. Area any of you interested in a bee meet-up once it warms up in MI?
I know we are all pretty scattered, so maybe we can pick out a central meeting point for everyone!
Let me know what you think ladies!
I think a Bee meet up would be fun! Maybe we should meet up when spring hits? I normally go into hibernation mode during the winter! LOL!
@missjyc: I'm on board for a meet-up! :) And, it is seriously cold right now. I think I'm turning into a snowflake.
@msstilettoheels: Thank you! Our wedding was very intimate, and we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
When you're having a small wedding, I think it is much easier to be flexible with the date. We actually had our wedding about 8 weeks after we set the date.
@tartlet: Yes, exactly! Great memory!! :)
A meetup would be awesome! i agree that spring would be better than winter...the weather is so unpredictable!
@Celeste07: did you hear about the 10-15 inches we're about to get tomorrow in SE Michigan!?
I will definitely be on the lookout and schedule something for the spring :)
@missjyc: Ahhh! Yes I heard! I'm definitely not looking forward to driving to/from work!! Stay safe!
*chanting* Snow day! Snow day! ...we're still allowed to have those even after we're out of school, right? ;)
@missjyc: When the time comes, let me know if you need help! The month of May is going to be pretty hectic, but regardless I'm happy to do what I can.
Hi all! I'm from the Ann Arbor area and my fiance and I are getting married July 15th, 2011 at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester!
