plpinkinsa2001 :  My Mom is really into gems. She instilled an (expensive) deep love for them in me. Your Grandmother’s rings is a prized color. I would love that shade of blue but they are seriously spendy. Here is a shot of my Mom’s whtie star sapphire. It is a still from a video showing off the star. Do you think you could talk your Mom into having it sized up and wearing a ring noodle? wink 

Star rubies and sappphires are hard to find now becasue they are not popular so people heat them to remove the star and sell them as a clear stone. Sad day. Make sure your Mom gets that baby insured. They are so hard to replace now! 

OP have you thought about looking for earrings to go with your ring? It would look smashing.

spendabuck here it is! though very similar to my original e-ring, the setting is so much more beautiful as is the gold (as opposed to titanium) and the ruby colour is much more authentic looking- so happy!
