Happy Holidays to all!
I have questions for those brides who had a mid-week wedding…
- What was the date (day of the weekend and actual date) of your wedding?
- What time did you start?
- How many people did you invite vs. how many people showed up?
- Did most guests stay for the entire night?
- Did you have a full reception that included dancing after dinner?
I’m really considering a mid-week wedding… but look forward to hearing from those who’ve had experience with midweek weddings.
(I’m hoping this board does not become filled with “midweek weddings are inconvenient comments.” I really just want to get the facts from those who have had a midweek wedding and also advice from those who are plannng a midweek wedding.)

What was the date (day of the week and actual date) of your wedding? Tuesday, October 9, 2009
What time did you start? 12:30. It was supposed to be noon, but the hair and make-up person got caught in traffic, and started and ended late.
How many people did you invite vs. how many people showed up? We invited 16, and 11 showed up. Two of the missing ones moved to Hawaii, and wouldn’t have been there even if it had been a Saturday night.
Did most guests stay for the entire night? In our case, it wasn’t a “night.” But everyone stayed until the reception ended at 5:00.
Did you have a full reception that included dancing after dinner? No. We had only a luncheon. We saved the full reception for our at-home reception three days later.
I should also note that we decided on a very small ceremony, because as a same-sex couple, we couldn’t get married in our local area. Most of our ceremony guests were immediate family, and a few very close friends. The reception for our local friends back home was on a Friday night.
