Minastrin 24 FE (or other birth control pills)

Weight gain is a common side effect of ALL birth control pills, so if that’s the only thing people are complaining about then I think you’re okay.

The birth controls I’ve used in my lifetime all have horrible reviews and scary stories. The thing you have to remember is people are less likely to review something that they like, and are twice as likely to review something that they hated. So for every bad review, there’s probably at least 2 people who liked it who didn’t write a review

I currently take Minastrin 24 FE and love it.  I had previously taken Loestrin 24 FE and loved it as well but switched when my year discount ended and the price went up.  I tried the generic Trinessa to try to save money and hated it, I felt edgy all the time.  I decided to switch back to Loestrin which was eventually discontinued at which point I made the move to Minastrin.  I have not noticed any weight gain, moodiness, etc.  My period literally lasts 2-3 days which I love!  I’d definitely recommend it.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this post because this week I started taking this pill. I have been on birth control for 10 years, I was previously on sprintec because it was cheap so as a teenager that’s what my doctor put me on. Fast forward to now I am still seeing the same doctor and recently discussed switching my pill to a lower hormone. My doctor prescribed minastrin. I figured it’s a bad idea to switch my birth control 5 months before my wedding so I googled reviews. And I probably read the same ones as you, they were all bad and I had a panic attack. But I went ahead and started this pill anyway. It’s been a week and I haven’t noticed any difference in appetite or “swelling” like some reviews stated. I sometimes chew it and sometimes swallow, some reviewers said it has to be chewed but i have swallowed it and have no problems. I think it all depends on ypur body. Try it and see how you feel, if you notice any significant mood changes or weight changes, talk to your doctor. But remember all birth control will effect your mood and weight so I’m talking significant changes.

Hello,

This is a 2 month update as I had just started this pill when I posted my last comment. First off please be advised the lo loestrin is not the same pill as minastrin. Any medicantions can be made generic after a certain amount of time on the market. In order for loestrin to not have a generic, the company that makes it decided to stop making it, change the ingridients and call it Minastrin to prevent other companies from making a generic version of it. I read A LOT of bad reviews of Minestrin, people swear it is not the same pill as loestrin even though the company claims the ingridients didnt change. But anyway back to my advice.

I chewed the pill at first but then started swallowing it. The first month I was fine, but ecame incrisingly agitated and angry. Little things would set me off into a rage, at first I blamed it on work or wedding planning. But I was not myself, even when wedding planning and work were going smoothly I was still a raging psycho. I spoke to my doctor and he said it is this pill, many people had the same side effect. So monitor your behavior, and if you notice any major changes talk to your docotr. I am going back to my old pill.

Hi all, I actually just changed to this pill today. I’ve tried many pills, including the Lo loestrin, but each of them either made me crazy emotional, made my periods irregular, or increased my appetite like crazy. I’d been on Beyaz for about a year (and loved it, finally a pill that worked for me) but just changed insurance and my new insurance won’t cover it. My doctor gave me this pill and said it is similar to Beyaz, but reading the reviews I’m not so sure…

Have any of you taken Beyaz before? Does this pill have the same effects as it? I know with the Lo loestrin I started gaining a lot of weight and became super emotional, does Minastrin have these same side effects?

I’ve been on this pill for three weeks and I think I’m going to take myself off of it. I’ve had a decreased appetite, a little weight gain (only 2 lbs so far), always tired, constant spotting, constant gas, constant cramping, and sometimes I’m nauseated.. I’m miserable. The only reason I got on it was to help clear up my face before my wedding in a couple months, and it’s just made things worse not better.. the gyno refuses to change it this soon, so I think I’m just going to quit taking it.

I found this feed because I have been on the Minastrin pill for about 3 months now. I have never ever had acne in my life, but now, 1 month before my wedding I have tons of little bumps all over my face. I know it’s not the stress because it started during the first month taking the pill. I just hope it goes away before my wedding. If there is one thing I loved about my face it was my skin, and I’m affraid I won’t even look like myself on my wedding day.

Minastrin is all that works for me. It was previously loestrin and i was on it then too. It is the same thing, minastrin is just chewable  (apparently the changed it because of a patent issue?) Anyway, i cant attest to weight gain as i was losing weight when i started on bc and then relapsed with my anorexia (i have serious food issues and have since i could eat solid food as a young child) but i have 0 side effects and my skin is clearer than ever right now. I also have had 0 pregnancies on this pill despite having otherwise unprotected sex (with my ex relationship of 2.5 years and my current fiance.) My insurance does not cover minastrin but it works so well for me that my gyno gives me samples for free (otherwise it is $120 a month for me which i cannot afford.) Birth control is definitely depending on the individual but i will never switch to anything else because this works so well for me personally.
