I use Pure Mineral Essentials and just started using it right before I got married. I love this stuff way better than anything else that I have ever used. I have tried a ton of different one’s in varying price ranges and this one I am sticking to! It’s just powder but has amazing coverage. It works as a powder, foundation, and a concealer. I found it by walking into an Ulta and letting them do my makeup.

I also started using minerals by letting them do my makeup at the counter. I use Bare Essentials – I bought it in February, and it’s still about 1/2 full! I love it. I don’t use the “Mineral Veil” that came with it, only the bronzer (I bought the kit). It’s very natural looking and seriously covers everything. I was bawling all morning.. = super red, puffy face..and some minerals covered it right up.

I was a Bare girl for a long time. It does cover VERY well.. just not as long as I’d like. I’d have to freshin up my makeup multiple times a day & it rubs off easily.

I wouldn’t recommend mineral makeup for wedding day makeup. Especially if it’s hot b/c it just doesn’t stay well.

I’ve also heard from photog that it may not photo well

I still use Bare Foundation powder but I use it as my “powder” over my liquid foundation so it didn’t look washed out in pics and it stayed better. And then use a finishing powder to set it.

On days that I might need to run errands and I’m not really worried about having “full face” I wear just it & the warmth.

I haven’t tried pure minerals so idk how well it stays comparatively to bare.

I use bare minerals and love it!  If you want to use it on your wedding day, start with a primer first.  Bare Essentials has a primer but it is pretty overpriced.  I actually bought a primer from walmart by hardcandy called “sheer envy” for around $8 and it makes your skin amazingly smooth and soft, and the minerals last a LOT longer!  Still for myself, I would want more coverage for wedding day and would wear it over a liquid.  And if you tend to get shiny at all, be sure to use the mineral veil as a finisher.

Btw my sister switched from bare minerals to sheer cover and loves it even more.  I tried sheer cover and it wasn’t for me.  Try a few brands to figure out what works best on your skin type first.

Yeah, BM does not photograph well. You have to be careful with liquid mineral makeup as well, because a lot of them have a lot of shine and photograph poorly, too. I’d suggest Makeup Forever HD foundation at Sephora. It’s pricey, but looks the most realistic.

@boycesgirl: Agree. Should not wear any mineral make-up for wedding as the minerals in it can reflect light from the photographer’s flash and make your face look lighter in photos.

I’m a business traveler and switched to Bare Escentuals when the TSA put the limit on liquids in place.  I hate checking bags on business trips, so getting rid of liquid make up was a way to cut down on bottles enough that I could still carry on.

I’m happy with the coverage and love the texture.  It looks far, far more natural than liquid foundation.

If you’re curious, the Bare Escentuals store or Sephora will often give you a sample to take home and try.

The spa where I am getting my makeup done for the wedding uses minerals. I am not a minerals person; I’d prefer something else. But I liked the place, liked the M UA herself, and liked her work, so I’ll get over it. I am surprised by previous comments because I got my makeup done earlier in the day for my trial and felt that it stayed well, which was one of my biggest concerns. I feel like my face eats makeup, and it still looked pretty good even later in the day. They used a brand called Youngblood.

I wore the pure the day of the wedding with no issues at all. It didn’t effect my pictures either. my skin looked amazing. People kept asking me who did my makeup, and I was so proud that I did it. (I hired someone, but decided to do my own at a stressful point during the day and needed some alone time) I also use their bronzer.
