    Just wanted to share what we are doing for our favors for our wedding.

    We are having a Southern/Country themed wedding and are making mini apple pies like these ones for our guest to take home:

    http://www.ourbestbites.com/2009/09/single-serving-pie-in-jar.html

    I hope our guest will like them! I think they are just too cute!! :)

    I love that idea, and it is also what I am planning to give out at our wedding for favors. We are also going to give out heart-shaped birdseed favors. We are having a Victorian themed wedding, so I think these will fit in nicely. I just have to think of one more favor, and right now I am thinking hankies for everyone to put in with the programs.

    @soon2beeubanks, I love these.  An event planner I knew through my old job mentioned that mini pies are the big latest chic dessert trend and it makes a lot of sense as people are craving that comfort food, homey feel with all the craziness in the economy these days.  I also thought the heart shaped pie pops would be adorable:

    @almostduffy, cute photo!!   i saw that idea on notmartha too and was thinking of bringing them to thanksgiving this year but decided transporting a large pie would be easier.  will be curious to hear how yours turn out!!

    thy turned out really good.  I cooked the pumpkin at 350 for 40min and 350 for 35 for the apple.

    They are a perfect portion and the best part of pie is the crust, so now each person gets a lot more crust !

    Soon2B: I have been totally trying to figure out how I could make these my favor as well. I am planning on a trial run for Christmas presents and VERY excited about it. I do have a couple concerns however...maybe you could give me some ideas. Sooo they can totally be premade which I love. And they can be pulled from freezer and put right in oven. But how are you planning to present them at reception? If they are frozen, how are you preventing them from thawing durin reception and getting funky? This so far has been my main concern. Are you doing them a different way that I'm no thinking (hope so:)..I could use the tips) I'm getting married in jul and was thinking of doing cherry pie since it isa "summery" pie.

    Also had a cute phrase(s) for tags if u don't already have ideas..."Thanks for sharing this special day with me and my sweetie pie" "your such a sweetie pie"...hehe, silly I know, but I have been thinking about this for weeks!!

    These are awesome, perfect for your theme and guests will LOVE them!  We did cupcakes in a jar at my shower and they were a huge hit.

    @soon2be- love it! I'm curious too though.... how are you going to make them so they can sit out all afternoon/evening? Bake them first maybe and ppl could just reheat?

    @ejs- yes. you are a freak. :)

    anyone know where I could buy these types of jars in person? I can find them kind of cheap online but the shipping costs are generally more than the jars themselves!! where does one find canning supplies?

    @Corgi: I think that if you bake them already, they would still need to be refridgerated in order to not spoil.  I'm thinking that you might be able to find them at Hobby Lobby/Michael's that sort of place.  Not completely sure but I want to find some too because I want to make some for myself!
