I made beatiful custom coloring books based on FI & my relationship. Printed them on a laser jet printer and set them aside.
My mom comes in, loves them, takes 4 of the ones I printed to give to her family and said she would help me make the rest.
I just found her “finished” stack, complete with missing pages, using pages I hadnt yet finished, copied on the cheap copy machine, at times a blurry copy of a copy. Oh, and with a line running through the middle bc the copy machine is dirty.
Grrr.. When I suggested she stop and let me fix them and take over she snaps “Oh don’t be such a perfectionist!” and takes the whole stack…
Not a big deal but come on! And she knows they look shitty bc she took 4 of the 10 nice ones for herself!

@HourThyme: First of all-cute idea about the coloring books!! This is the FIRST time I’ve heard of that and I love the idea!
Second of all-Perfectionist?! I mean, this is for your wedding!! HELLO!
I’m sure your mom made that comment because she wanted to be helpful and after that she realized she wasn’t helpful and probably got her feelings hurt. But at the same time–I’m a huge believer in: If you are going to do something do it right!
Sorry you are dealing with this, hopefully the coloring books turn out great!

@veryberry13: Thanks! I’ve seen people do wedding coloring books and thought Why dont I make them customized to reflect our relationship!!!! I would love to post them but don’t know how, plus when other bees posted theirs they were attacked for copyright infringement.
As for the coloring books, yes, I’m a perfectionist, but it’s my wedding. I wanted to use these as “optional” favors. As in, if you want one take one, but there won’t be one at each table. I almost feel bad giving them my smudged coloring books.
Also, I don’t really like her family much and well it just bugs me that they get the nice ones, and my friends and children, originally for whom I made these, get the shitty ones…
I’m sure it doesnt help that she has done VERY LITTLE to help and has done A WHOLE LOT of criticizing, as in telling me my dress is ugly and cheap looing, my lipstick is too dark, my hair (from the trial) is not that pretty, hating on my bridesmaids and so on….

@HourThyme: This would really grate on me too so do not feel bad that it irritates you. Im a crazy crafter (not that Im suggesting you are 😉 and I have to be VERY selective in who I let do things because stuff like this drives me bonkers.
That being said there are only two things you can do about it. (1) Realize that most people won’t notice the things that you do as we are our own worst critics and not worry about it. Or (2) Make more comic books yourself or have a skilled friend.
If you go with 2 then you can either tell your mother that () Tell your you made a few more to be sure you had enough. Or (B) Have your planner put yours on the tables instead of the messed up ones.
Good luck! Remember no one will notice every little thing the way you do.
