I don’t like it either.  I vowed to my husband I would never call him “hubby” and he vowed to never call me “wifey”.

@kgirl91:  So, so with you. I was talking to FI about this and “wifey” last night. I regret it…he’s now started calling me wifey to spite me and I want to punch him in the face.

@kgirl91:  Agreed, I think it’s an older generation thing. Most younger people don’t say it.

It actually doesn’t bother me. Neither does wifey, but he doesn’t call me that.

I hate ball-and-chain with a passion.

I don’t like hubby, but heard someone use hubs in a super sassy way and like that better.

I think I missed the memo. Why is using “wifey” and “hubby” weird? I call my DH hubby sometimes and he calls me wifey because we thought it sounded cute. Am I missing something? I mean if it something totally wrong and gross, I’ll stop using it but I’m confused.

Lol…this is backwards- I don’t mind using the term “hubby” but I don’t want to be called “wifey” once I’m married. This term (for my generation and those younger) could mean just one’s girlfriend, not necessarily the woman who legally vowed to be yours in front of witnesses and God. “That’s my wifey!” is being used even when people are not married. So my SO is going to be made (lol) to say “that’s my wife” so that no one is confused!

@slc201329:  Oh ok, I see. Now I remember a friend of mine calling her bf hubby and him calling her wifey and I always thought it was strange. But I’m not sure if I mind it or not still.

@mylittleviolett:  nope you didn’t miss anything…its become a normal term in today’s society. However, in my culture (or whatever you wanna distinguish it as) it doesn’t necessarily mean wife anymore these days. Before me and SO got engaged he would always introduce me as “wifey” and it just was confusing but he did say that he wouldn’t call someone that if he didn’t plan on marryig them one day.
