I’ve had it for over two years and LOVE it.  Have you had any children yet?  I think that’s one of the factors of whether you can get it and for sure, is one of the factors that makes putting it in LESS painful.

You have to have it put in while you’re on your period, which sucks (for obvious reasons) and it was uncomfortable (but not painful).  I cramped for a solid week and spotted for a few months.

Best part … I haven’t had a period in a year and a half – zilch, nothing!  I don’t feel like I have any hormonal side effects like I did when I was on the pill, and I haven’t gained any weight.

I absolutely love it!

I have one and have had it for almost 2 years now. the thing I hated about it was the process of putting it in maybe I am just a baby but it did hurt me a little. But the doctors generally won’t let you have it unless you are 30+ or have had a baby. My period is crazy random now the only way I can tell it is coming is when I get my cramps. But the plus is that my period is super light now.

My OB put mine in even though I haven’t had a baby.  It was crazy painful, even on the prescribed Vlium and Vicoprofen.  But, it has been so worth it.  I did get some cramping the first week, then random spotting and what could have been an ovarian cyst.  After 3 months I didn’t experience side effects and have loved it.  Sometimes I spot one random day out of the month, but that’s it.

I guess it’s really much easier if you have had a baby.  The short term side effects are completly worth it!

LOVE it! I had it put in around Oct 2010 and haven’t had a period since. AMAZING. Also, it did hurt, but only for a minute while she was actully inserting it. Once she was out of there, it didn’t hurt anymore. I didn’t have any cramping afterwards either. My Dr. gave me a prescription for a med that softened my cervix, so that might have helped. I say go for it!!

i’ve had mine for about two years now…  getting it “installed” (hahhaha, i’m so vulgar) hurt like hell. i had some pretty bad cramping for a few days afterward and some pretty heavy bleeding for about a month afterward. after i got over the cramps and bleeding things got better.  i haven’t had a period in about a year and a half. it’s been pretty fantastic. the only negative is that i’m pretty sure it caused some ovarian cysts – 1 was severe and had to be watched pretty closely. i’m now getting to the point where i feel like i have something foreign in my body, though, and am excited to get it removed after the honeymoon!!
