So I have decided to go with BBQ for our reception. As some of you know we are getting married at a historic farmhouse complex and I am going incorporating a burlap and lace theme. My mom hates the idea of using disposables for plates and told me today that she wants to start collecting mismatched floral china for the reception. I realize my wedding is in September and I have no doubt that my mom will be able to collect it. There are tons of antique stores and goodwill in our area also garage sales start here in April. My question for you is would mismatch china match my theme and food choice?
Thank you ladies!

@Lucille_628: I’m doing mismatched china & a BBQ (chicken, beef brisket, roast sweet potatoes, salad & broccoli). Our venue is a renovated barn. So, yes, I think it will be lovely 🙂

I think it will totally match. You can even do like cute little silverware tied to a napkin with a burlap and lace (twine and lace?) string. It will match perfectly.

@les105: Yay! I love the look of mismatch china and I would probably keep some of the plates to use as decoration in my home 🙂 Our menu is almost the same as yours!

@eagle: That would be so cute! I’m doing like 90% DIY so I love hearing any new ideas!

I thik it wll be fine. If your Mom wants to do the work, let her have at it.

@julies1949: Thank you. That is the true issue here. My mom hates everything about my wedding and I am trying to let her have her way on things that don’t make much of a difference to me. It is going to be a lot of work but it’s something she wants and I just want her to like something about my wedding.

I’m doing the exact same thing I’m getting married June of next year in LA and I found this really quaint place in hidden away in Culver City, It’s all outdoors and has patio areas and a small dancing are that can be made to look indoors. I’ve found all mis matched plates, mason jar glasses and lots of lace and burlap. Last but not least my favorite food BBQ. Great idea and fun food

I absolutely think it can work! It does not matter what you put on the plate, the decor together will be beautiful! It goes the the outoor/country/charming feel of the event.
