So somehow I have lost my birth control pills. I keep them in my purse and they weren’t there last night when I went to take my pill for the day. I went through my car and apartment ..nothing. SO WHO EVEN KNOWS!
I only had 3 more pills to take on this cycle and am picking up a refill on Sunday.
I’m not so concerned with it as a contraceptive — I can handle that. I take the pills mostly for skin issues, to balance out hormones, and to regulate my period. They have made a WORLD of difference. If I miss these last 3 days on this cycle, how much will that affect me? Will it throw my body all out of wack? Or is missing 3 days one time not too big of a deal if I am back on track the next cycle?
Thanks for your input!

I’m not a doctor or nurse, but I wouldn’t think that it would throw off your body. I would start the next pack three days earlier though. Once when I was moving, I threw away an entire new pack! Ughh that was the worst!

I have done that before. I just start my period and pick up with a new pack after a week.

I don’t know about your insurance, by mine allows for an extra refill a month in case I lose a pack. Usually pharmacys will try to work something out if you lose your pills. Just call them!

Are they the “brown pills” that you’re missing?? I had this happen, twice actually. The first time I lost them about half way thru cycle and my insurance wouldn’t refill them early, so I called the gyno and she luckily had my type of bc in sample packs. The extra pack came in handy the next time I lost them too. Just recently though I was to the last couple days, the brown pills, and the doctor said it doesn’t matter because those are just sugar pills that dont do anything, they’re just there to remind you to take them everyday. So I just took those 2 or 3 days off then restarted pack like normal.

Are you missing active pills or placebo pills? If they are only placebo pills (the last seven pills in a 28-pill package), no worries. You don’t ever need to take them — they are just there to keep you in the habit of taking your pill.
If they are active pills, you might want to get an extra refill from the pharmacy. Or, you could just start your new pack three days early, if you aren’t worried about birth control.
