So I was suposed to get my period 2 weeks ago and it still hasn’t arrived (no spotting or anything!). I know that women can miss their periods for a variety of reasons but it has NEVER EVER happenned to me. Furthermore, I am, and have been on the pill for 3 years and I’ve been very regular.
Last time I had intercourse with my fiancé was 2 weeks ago and I’ve taken three pregnancy tests and they all came back negative.
Has anyone ever had an experience like this? What should I do?

This happened to me once. I missed a period for absolutely no reason, even though it has never happend to me before. if you’re concerned you can visit a doctor, but like you said, women can miss periods for a variety of reasons like stress, change in diet, ect. You’re probably fine. 🙂

Right after I got married, I missed my period while on birth control. I called the doctor’s office and they said that sometimes it just happens. Sometimes, you don’t get a period even on birth control that allows for a withdrawl bleed. Right on schedule, I got my period the next month.

I’ve been on the pill since I was 13. Sometimes I randomly have really light or totally non existent periods. Like you said–there are tons of reasons for this to happen. I am totally paranoid about being pregnant so I would recommend calling your doctor or heading to planned parenthood and getting a blood test done to ease your mind. It’s probably nothing but false negatives can happen and I would be freaking out the entire time until my period made an appearance. Blood tests are much more accurate.

It could be your pill or stress. I’m currently on a pill where I don’t ever get a period (which is a huge bonus!). I’d maybe take another pregnancy test in a week or two just to be sure, maybe go to the doctors too.

I guess it wouldn’t be a huge stretch to say that I am super stressed and it may have caused this sudden period disapearence… I guess the stress is amplified because can you imagine becoming pregnant when your October wedding is already planned/with deposits & dress!! It would put us in a situation that would surely be very stressful on our relationship.

Sometimes it just happens, but I’d call the doc.
Not to scare the bejesus out of you, but ectopic pregnancies (in the tube) sometimes don’t read on pregnancy tests, and can be life threatening.
Also, ovarian cysts, which are really common and not usually a big deal, can stop your periods. They’re usually NBD, but in some cases they will get big, and need to be removed.
So it’s just worth a call to your doc to be triple-safe, even though 90% it’s nothing.

Definitely make a dr’s appt if you are worried….I never had a regular period….finally went on depo and stopped it for the most part…..
I used to get it for months on end…..all the time, with a week or so in between….so missing one with a negative pregnancy test was never a concern of mine!

@liz.couture: Yes, this happened to me right before the wedding. I was 10 days late and convinced that I was preggo. 3 negative tests and a visit to the OB/Gyn told me that I was defintely not preggo but she did feel a small cyst on my ovary. After a slight freak out and a sonogram showed that it was a benign fluid one the Gyn said it was probably stress related.
So, I skipped that month and when AF finally showed up she started the day before the actual wedding (boo!) then stopped the day of (yay?) and then resumed a day later. Weird. But then a month after the wedding I was back on track and haven’t missed a month since.
I guess the moral of my story is – stress can do funky things to your cycle. And if you’re really worried go see your Ob/Gyn.

i’ve missed a lot of periods on pills… after many pregnancy test to give FH a mini heartattack…. they finally told me okay then its just normal. Sometimes your body doesn’t build up enough of a lining that it has to shed.
