Fiance and I have 3 cats. One of which he found in July. When he found her she was just a tiny baby, est about 8 weeks old, she was left at a gas station with a can of food. Fiance is a sucker and he knew I wouldn’t object and scooped her up. We took her in, got her back to good health, through a string of never ending vet visits and had her spayed. Anyway our little Straylah got out on Monday and we haven’t seen her since. I’m so heart broken.
Here is a picture of her from a few months ago…
Have you ever lost a pet? Did it come home?

Aww I’m so sorry!! Did she have a microchip or a collar on?? Maybe someone will find her and can contact you if so. Losing a pet is my biggest fear. Hang in there!!

I’m so sorry! I hope she comes home, my cat went missing for a day, but we found her late that night. I can only imagine how you feel, I was so heartbroken the entire day. I truly hope you get her back.

I am SO sorry 🙁 Losing a pet is the worst. When I was in high school, we adopted 3 kittens from a friend whose cat had a litter. I was very attached to one, a ginger tabby aptly named Ginger. We were a bit late on getting them spayed, and as such two went into heat the week before their appointments. It was summer, and I guess Ginger got out through a screen door one night. We never saw her again – put up fliers, did a ton of looking, but never found her. It broke my heart.
I hope you get your kitty back, she’s such a cutie.

Thanks, we lost another cat over a year ago and never found him. The problem is we live just feet away from a state park and my fear is once they hit that open land, it is so easy to get lost forever. I was heart broken then (when Houston never came home) too. I can’t believe this is happening again.

Growing up we lost quite a few cats because ours were indoor-outdoor cats. We think some of them found other families.
However on one occassion, my mom made fliers and hung them up around the neighborhood. About a month later we got a call from someone who had taken her in. So we got her back.
I’d recommend making fliers, calling the humane society and posting on Craigslist. You never know. Good luck!

First of all, very sorry about your cat! Hope he comes back for you – I adore my two kitties and would be heartbroken if I lost them.
FI’s cat fell off a balcony when he was young, and hurt his hip. He was missing for about three days but he eventually came back.
He healed up fine and he’s just as adorable and energetic as ever, even with his limp.
My cat used to get out all summer, and I had moved to a new place where he never had been outside. He always ended up coming back when he was hungry.
Hope everything works out for you!

Oh no! If it’s any comfort, one of ours got out recently and she did come home, within 24 hours. Sometimes they just hunker down really close by and hide until they get hungry or something. Good luck. She looks like such a sweetheart. You might want to try putting out food and/or a shirt or towel, something that smells like you or Fiance to guide her to the house.

@TankGirl: The towel or shirt and food is a good idea. Thanks for sharing.

I hope your kitty comes home! Have you checked all the places around your house/yard that he could be hiding? I think most stay close. Do you have a pet finder service you could call?
I have an indoor only kitty that I rescued as an older feral kitten off my college campus. She’s super, super affectionate with me (and now finally, after 5 years, DH!), but is afraid of everyone else. A couple years ago we were on a road trip to visit my friend in Oregon and she was at home with my mom and sister and all our other pets, her normal house. One day my sister’s cat lured her over the baby gate at our bedroom door, out the back dog door and under the house. He then left her under there while he came back inside and she was too scared to move.
When my mom called and said she was missing, Darling Husband and I cancelled all our plans and immediately drove straight home from Corvallis, OR to Los Angeles, CA. We looked for her for days, put up posters and called a pet finder with a little dog trained to sniff out missing pets. I think it was a little beagle certified as a search and rescue dog. I kept thinking I could hear my kitty meowing in response to my calls in our basement but no one else heard anything.
Before the beagle and handler came over, we had my Darling Husband and a family friend go into the crawl space under the house and low and behold there she was. They had to sort of herd her to an area I could get to so I could scoop her up and she was hungry and thirsty but okay. Everyone was convinced that she was gone forever since she was too shy to come to anyone but she stayed really close to home.
Hopefully your missing baby is hiding out somewhere near by and will come home soon!

im so sorry that you lost your cat. dont worry though it will all work out. put out a can of food and something that the cat really likes liike a bed or a shirt that smells like you. I once had a cat that was missing for 2 years and one day he just showed up. most itmes they do not go far especially if they are indoor cats
