Are you living in Europe for work? How long have you been in Germany? How much longer will you be there?
Tips to keep your spirits up-- just try to focus on this part of your life as an adventure that you're never going to have again. When you're far away from your support system, it's very easy to withdraw into yourself and keep yourself from really exploring all the opportunities in front of you. But you'll cheat yourself out of a lot of great times if you don't allow yourself to feel uncomfortable and awkward. I moved to England on my own a couple of years ago, and I found that if I just let myself get a bit out of my comfort zone, I end up having a great time in the end.
Also, definitely use Skype to keep in close touch with friends and family back home. Emailing is great, but it always makes me feel much more connected when I pick up my little headset and actually talk to my friends.

I'm living in Germany right now, and doing alot of traveling through France, the UK, and back. My FI came to visit for 2 weeks and proposed at a castle :) It was amazing! But, now that he is gone i am even more home sick than before! I dont even have my family here, so it has been really hard.
Anyone else going/went through the same thing? Any tips to keep your spirits up?
