I think it looks fine. Our enveiopes were like that and we had normal paper emblems on top of it. I think it looked fine. You can judge for yourself, i think i have some closeup pics of the envelope on my site.
I tried going metallic on metallic and it was too metallic-y! So I too went non on top of metallic and it looks great. And as you said, it's much easier to print on non-metallic paper
another basic question for the hive:
i just ordered some samples from paperandmore.
they didn't have non-shiny 12x12 chocolate brown paper, so i ordered the "metallic"/pearlescent paper.
is it bad to layer non-metallic paper on top of metallic paper?
i'm trying to avoid printing on shiny paper...
