We both had 18K gold bands, but mine was white gold and his was three-tone (mostly yellow gold). We're usually not showing off our rings together, and we both love what we got, so it worked for us :)
Thank you for all the posts. Mine is white gold and we have just bought the one he wanted which is yellow gold.
Both of us are getting 18k yellow gold wedding bands, but that's because we both love yellow gold! I think mixed match looks really nice too, though! My e-ring is 18k yellow gold with a platinum basket and it looks nice. :)
@deathbydesign: Have you talked to your FI about getting 14k gold instead? Usually the 18k is to soft for men.
His band is white and yellow gold. I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture before we put it in my parents safe. We haven't seen another one anywhere, it has 5 ridges with the middle one being yellow. My E-ring is white gold and my band is a platinum eternity band (they look like they match) which my mother had set aside for me. She has another for my sister besides the one that she wear.
I don't think they need to match, but my husband disagrees. He originally wanted a plain yellow gold band, but after I told him I wanted a white gold e-ring and wedding band, he decided he had to have white gold too.
I didn't think the color of the metals mattered and wanted him to have whatever ring he liked best, but it was important to him that the metals matched, so white gold is what he got. Silly boys.
