Sports and chinese takeout are a great combo, in my humble opinion! I think it will work well, nothing too in your face, everything has a story, and it's awesome when you can find a way to make things do double duty, like your boxes. It's so much less work! Just be sure to put a tag or something on the box letting everyone know to put their candy in there.
I like it! It sounds very cool.
Just curious, being a Chicago girl myself (and a Bears fan), where is your reception?
It is (hopefully) going to be at the Walter Payton Roundhouse in Aurora.

At this point, we are planning on marrying at a reception site that is dedicated to a football star. It is a lovely site, not overly sportsy, but I'm thinking of doing a "sports ticket" type of invitation. Other than that, no real sporty theme other than where we're marrying and a "grownup" version of the team's colors as our colors. I also want to do a candy buffet as the favor. Since FI proposed to me with a message in a fortune cookie and I want to include the place cards as part of the favor, I thought it might be fun to use the chinese takeout container with labels on them to act as both place cards and candy buffet take home containers. Is this to weird to pair up? Slightly sporty (in what I'm hoping is a classy, grownup way) and chinese take out?
