Love it. I'm a November b'day, and I'm dealing with the fact that Topaz is no longer available. I think the ring is gorge & I'd wear it all the time! I'm not a yellow gold person though, my skin has the wrong tone for yellow gold, so I'd go with white - but that's just me.
Love it.
@MzAvon: She was initially planning to take an existing ring she had with stones and turn it into another piece with help from a local jeweler---but he was a flake so she isn't working with him anymore. The custom ring was going to cost more than the Tiffany ring and she had been saving for a while to do the custom ring.
@ejs4y8: That ring is gorgeous! The pendant is too ;) I honestly don't know where to get something cheaper unfortunately. Try Etsy maybe? Not sure though, most of them on there don't use highend stones for the most part. If you think you'll wear the ring enough to justify the price then GET IT! If I remember right, if your news at work goes through I say DEFINITELY get that ring. :D
Yep, this one is the "cheaper" option actually, and it doesn't come in white gold, only yellow.
And i've tried Etsy, Amazon, and Overstock, but no bones!
LOL yeah, Curlysue, if i get my promotion to level 2 engineer, that'd just be icing on the cake. Promotion present? I think so....
. Boy now i feel MORE justified, buah ha ha.
That's so freaking pretty! Its really not a bad price either. If only I weren't saving to be a real deal grown up... this sucks! I haven't seen a prettier one around, that's for sure!
@EJS: I haven't been following your ring threads either (sorry!) but try Erwin Pearl, maybe? There's one in my office building and I always see lots of colored stones in there.
Also, maybe Blue Nile.
First of all- I am in love with the cushion cut! I have a cushion cut diamond ring from Tiffanys and the shape is very classy (IMO).
I personally am a huge Tiffany's fan...yes I know (expensive, you're paying for the name, yadda yadda) but I have always had the best service from them and all my jewelry has held up amazingly well.
8.5 carats is huge...that's why it's listed as a cocktail ring. As long as you're comfortable with that and you love it, I say go for it! It is something you will always treasure!
@pinkpinstripes, when i do jewelry, I go bold =]. My wedding set+e-ring is just shy of 4 carats
If it holds up well, that's a good thing to hear, with something i'll wear often!
Go big or go home!
I misread your post, I thought you wanted this ring as your e-ring or wedding band :) sorry about that!
wowza. that is all. WOWZA. :) great price too for such a bold piece... i'd prob just go with it! I missed your past threads i guess? but are you doing anything w/ the amethysts now?
I also love BIG jewelry so I say go for it! It is an awesome looking ring! I think cocktail rings are my fave piece of jewelry and I wear them all the time.
@corgi, nothing yet. They're such an inexpensive stone and very small and i'm just gonna hold onto them. Maybe I will set them into tiny pendants for my niece and daughters some day? I sort of have an amethyst collection as it is, since it's my birthstone. DH just got me an amethyst necklace for our anniversary, too!
@KES, i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one who likes cocktail jewelry for every day! i got it from my mom, for sure! I don't have one piece of delicate or dainty jewelry on right now, lol. Gosh i sound gaudy and tacky =]
Found these on Amazon for you:
None of them seem to have the "green" hue though...
What about chrysoberyl? It's a durable gem used in jewelery. You'd probably save so much on the stone- you would be able to get a custom setting.

Thanks for looking, ladies! The color's not quite there for those other ones.
I really like the chrysoberyl color! It's a funky limey green. I just think I want something a little more delicately colored. It kinda reminds me of Kryptonite, LOL
I understand. You could also look into green amethyst.. it's similar in tone.
Good luck ejs... did you ever get your ring back from the flakey man?
@Ella, i did. He said first he took his son on an impromptu camping trip and then his father had a stroke and that's why he's been MIA, so he was very behind, and had a large pile of customer's calls to return.
Well at least he didn't try to tell you he lost it! That happened with my mom's veil. My aunt was going to wear it as her something borrowed for her wedding, so she took it to her cousin who owned a dry cleaning business. They told her that they got robbed and lost her veil... awful.
Like where you are going though. I'm in love with cushion cut & briolette costume jewelry, it's so beautiful & faceted!
@ejs4y8: go big or go home INDEED!!! That ring is stunning.
I have a similar ring and I got it cheaper. Mine is an 8 carat citrine, oval cut with a diamond halo and diamond half way down the band. set in white gold. I got it for $800 from an independant jeweler in the LA Jewelry District. I spend a day and went from store to store and there were tons to chose from. Do you have a jewelry district anywhere near you? that might be your best bet.
I'll post a picture of mine when I get home tonight, (don't have one on this computer).
I WISH we had a diamond district! I actually considered buying a plane ticket and flying back home to So Cal to engagement ring shop with DH cuz i know the prices there are awesome! Def post a picture =]
Oooh, LOVE the Tiffany ring!! I think it's definitely worth a little splurge..
Oooh, LOVE the Tiffany ring!! I think it's definitely worth a little splurge..
My pink morganite ring is really similar to this (same cut stone & almost identical setting, mine just has a tiny diamond on either side of the main stone, and when I say tiny, I mean teeny tiny). I got it at mysolitaire.com
That ring is absolutely gorgeous. I think that if you love the ring, then definitely go for it!
i have the earings and they are my favorite! I love tiffanys and its def worth it :)
now i might just get that ring!

If you've been following my ring threads, I decided to buy something cheaper that I like, and put the rest in the bank.
I came across one of these a few weeks back and it's just STUCK in my mind. I've never seen a citrine this color, nor sparkle as much as it did in the store. Completely mesmerizing! And no luck finding a similiar one. And definitely a statement piece.
Has anyone got a Tiffany's Sparkler? Is it worth the money? I don't mind paying for a better cut/sparklier stone and a unique color (we're not talking a diamond here, after all), and I could care less about the Tiffany's name, but still, I'd like to hear it first hand!
It's an 8.5 carat yellow citrine cocktail ring set in gold. I usually am not a yellow gold girl, but i think it works great with the rich yellow green of the stone. Something I'd wear everyday and trade out with my topaz, lol. I like big jewelry, but don't we all know that by now?
