LOL that would drive me insane! He does care, he just doesn’t know where to start!! My hubby was the same way so I took it seriously and put my creative brain to work! The wedding turned out absolutely wonderful and he had that WOW face when he saw it all put together!! So do your best with what you have now! Don’t beat him up, he’s probably just as nervous as the rest of us during the planning process! I’m sure whatever you pick he will love because I’m sure you have wonderful taste!

Wow that would drive me crazy, and I would probably feel hurt! I would tell him I find the term offensive and to cut it out unless he actually wanted me to end up needing “mental health” support from his comments.

Initially I laughed. Like I belly laughed out loud when I imagined a grown man saying ‘it’s total mental health’ in regards to glassware.

I didn’t laugh though when he said he doesn’t want you to wear something weird! Why would a bride intentionally wear something that peoole would think is weird?

I think you might need to relax on how much you are talking about the wedding, or when he starts saying ‘mental health’, I would say something sarcastic like ‘see, I knew you would rub off on me eventually’.

“Mental health”…. What is he, 12? Sounds like something my teenager would say. He needs to work on communicating better with you.

Please tell him to never use those words again or he’s finding a new place to sleep. Also, stop telling him details about the wedding if he’s going to act like a 10-year-old.

@Rachel631: Then there was the dress: “I don’t care what you wear… as long as it’s not mental health.”

I think you better wear this to the wedding so he can scream to all the guests “It’s mental health!”

You are a more patient woman than me. I would be ok with those comments the first few times, then he would be shut down in a pretty harsh way. You can only criticize if you’re going to help… and not act like a 12 year old.

These conversations made more sense when I replaced the words mental health with crazy. I would just stop sharing details with him.

what the hell does he mean by “mental health”?

lol this reminds me of when I go to my FI with a thought or idea about our wedding and he just vetoes it right away with out listening to me or letting me explain it fully. Then when I show a picture of my idea and actually get a chance to state my case he agrees that its nice and has egg on his face.

Sorry you have to deal with his attitude. I’m finding my patience is wearing thin as well so good luck and take A LOT of deep breathes lol

I was annoyed (by him) just reading this.

i can’t stand when anyone runs a phrase into the ground… This would make me crazy.

i would pick an equally annoying, grammatically incorrect, “clever” phrase to describe his behavior and use it NONSTOP.

You are a saint.

amen.

@happyface:  That makes me think of an oversized onion!

My FI makes a point of laughing, like full belly laugh, when anything wedding related is mentioned. He admits he does it because he knows it annoys me. Of course it would! You put a ring on it and we still don’t have a date! Gah!
