I spent Saturday & Sunday shopping for a dress for my mom. She hates shopping…its like dragging a whiny 6 year old around the mall and from bridal store to bridal store.
She gets pissed off when things don’t fit…or she has to go a size up from the last store. She doesn’t get that things fit differently and not everything fits every body type. She also doesn’t get the whole sample size thing.
So. We’ve been everywhere in town. Can’t find a thing. I get home and realize I have an old bridesmaids dress that might fit. OH it does! Yay! But she hates the colour…ok, reasonable as it is poop brown.
I phone the bridal salon…3 month order…which means it MIGHT be here in time for the wedding.
So…if anyone comes across an After Six 6521 size 14 let me know.
Or, suggestions? How did anyone find something for their moms?

I went with my mum to a few boutique stores and just browsed for some one off dresses. I stayed clear of anything that had the word bridal in it. It doesnt need to be from a bridal store! Should try online. You might have luck! 🙂

My mom can be a pain to shop with too, so I sent my sister with her instead. I just didn’t want to deal with the stress (which there was plenty of, my sister kept calling me telling me how picky my mom was being).
Hope you find something!

Sounds like shopping with my FMIL. She HATES clothes shopping with a fiery passion of a thousand suns. We didn’t try bridal stores but a bunch of deparment stores. She finally bought a dress, found another one she liked better, and returned the first. Shopping with my mom was much more pleasant. (May have something to do with size availablility. They’re both like 5’1″-2″ but FMIL discovered she needs a size 22 while my mom is a more common size 14).

@ItWasntMe: I did see this…its worth a gander again. The burgundy probably won’t fly with her, but we’ll see.
Ugg. We actually started out in department stores because my mom is CHEAP (like I’m cheap, but she’s CHEAP) …the department stores/mall stores didn’t work…so we went to afew boutiques.
I guess for a woman who HATES shopping she put up with 10 hours of it relatively well.

@kermie: 10 HOURS?! Wow, if I tried to keep my FMIL out shopping for 10 HOURS she probably would have tried to kill me (or cancel the wedding, or resign to showing up in her work/office clothes). I think we made it about 4 maybe? and that included lunch.

OMG OMG OMG …no dress was better.
My dad took my mom out shopping on Monday. They did manage to find a dress, but its PEACH.
1) I cannot imagine my grey haired olive skinned mother looking good in peach
2) It really goes with nothing…or I’ve convinced myself it goes. Its a neutral right?
When did I become someone who cares about this?
