So I found this Manning Cartell Dress – Which I bought, with the intention for mum to wear to the wedding! What do you guys think?
My mum is super fit, LOL she’s in her early 50’s but run marathons!!
The wedding ceremony it at Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne.
And the reception will be held at Butleigh Wootton, Kew.

@Bunnikins: I like it. I think it’s really pretty!

@Bunnikins: I don’t personally like it very much, but I definitely think it’s appropriate.

@Bunnikins: to be completely honest, I think that the split in the back of the dress goes up a little too High.

@Bunnikins: I think she will look amazing in it!

Personally if it were for my wedding, I’d think it’d be a little too “WHOAH PRINT!” in family photos… It is a cool print though…

Appropriate from the front, too much party in the back. I’d also feel bad for MOG. Unless she’s wearing something comparable, she could end up looking frumpy or matronly. Or worse, depending on the crowd, your mother could come across as inappropriate. She can definitely wear the dress, but I wouldn’t for the wedding.

Hmm… I’m on the fence. I can’t imagine me wanting to wear a backless dress to my daughters wedding if I were 50+, if I ever have a daughter… But that being said, we don’t really know your mum. Hopefully she loves it!

Golly thanks for all your in put!
@Jas00: The split actually only goes to the back of the knee .
A little background – After mum had my-self and by younger brother. She slowly started gaining weight. Like many mothers, she gave everything to my brother, my-self and dad!
About 10 years ago, she was starting to feel really down about her body, so dad and I chipped in and bought her a treadmill (sounds really bad, but she was too self-conscience to run in public). Anyway, last year she completed her second marathon.
I am really proud of her, and want her to look truly lovely and be happy at the wedding.
She hasn’t tried it on yet, so next time I’m home (I have inter-state to my parents), I’ll ask her to try it on.
Hopefully she likes it! If not, the wedding isn’t until May next year…LOL I’ll just have buy her another dress!!
cheers again for all your help guys!

@Bunnikins: ahhh I see! Well the explanation helped to clarify. I think the photo makes the slit look higher than it actually may be. the best thing to do is to try it on. I also must say that I think it’s cute that you want your mother to feel sexy and beautiful on your special day!

I think you should either have the daring print or the daring silhouette. Both looks a little too “loud” and I think runs the risk of looking scandalous next to the MOG and bride!

I don’t think it’s inappropriate just too casual and loud, it will look dated fast in pics. Also I would imagine your mom might want to pick out her own dress? I know lots of moms are excited to go shopping for the dress, especially if she’s fit

Star116062: Do you think it already looks dated since this post is two years old?
