That is moderate to high for an experienced photographer in DFW. Most photographers I looked at with 8 hours and 2 photographers and engagement sessions were between $2500 to $5000. Photographers who are just starting out will run much less if you're willing to take a chance on a newbie.
Have you checked out Mrs. Avocado's photography website? She's based out of DFW and very reasonable:

Maybe I'm biased but I think Stacy's work is amazing... and she's shooting our wedding. She did my fiance's business partner's wedding and just did my FSIL's wedding this month... she's really good. I think her prices are on par with what you'll find in DFW.
Another one I'd recommend is Kari Crowe. She's a newer wedding photog, so her prices are a little less than Stacy but she's very very good. Good luck!

We haven't had our wedding yet so I can't give you an exact review but so far I love her!
Try Aves Photographic Design (http://www.avesphotographicdesign.com/). Packages start at $2599 or you can buy a la carte. And they are worth every penny. They just shot my wedding October 24th and my pictures are beyond incredible. They have the modern but vintage style you are looking for.
Check out Table4weddings. They are great to work with and they have an amazing artistic outlook and view of everything. They were our photographers and we love them. I was just looking at my wedding pictures the other day and just started crying because of the emotions they were able to capture in their photography. Plus they made us look amazing!!!!

We're using Shari too! We've done our e pics and I had my bridals a few weeks ago. I'm super-pleased with her work and prices...
Though I wouldn't think of her usual style of vintage, I'm sure she could accomodate that if it was wanted by a client.

My photographer is great. She listened to exactly what we wanted and produced fabulous images. K & S Photography and they are reasonably priced.

I was looking for a more vintage artistic eye as well. I found Aves Photography and absolutely fell in love with them. I would have used them if they were not already booked on my day. However, then I also found Nine Photography and they have a similar style, plus Kelli is fantastic! Her blog page does not show a great deal of vintage samples, but once I showed her what I was looking for, she sent me pictures of what she has done in the past and they were perfect. They are great people, very flexible and kind, and they reply within minutes unless they are shooting. AND you won't believe their prices for their quality!!!
I encourage you to check them out!!! I can't wait to see what they do at our wedding.
My photographer is modern life studios and I love them!! I just did bridals and posted about them. I seriously cannot say enough good stuff.
I still haven't chosen one, though I'm really loving all the photographers everyone has suggested. It turns out our wedding date is going to be pushed back later than we'd anticipated, so now I've got plenty of time to research. Stacy is certainly EXACTLY what I am looking for, so hopefully by the time my date rolls around she'll be available and my future hubby and I will be in a better financial position than we are now. If not, now I have plenty of other potential photographers who are all amazing as well. You ladies are awesome! :)

His style is vintage. I put some pics from our engagment shoot so you could see. I did the styling and set for the shoot and am now actually helping other brides put their shoots together. I've been looking everywhere for a DFW area wedding photographer that suits my style, but I'm having a lot of trouble as I want more of an artistic photographer, preferably with a neo-vintage style. I find photographers I love, but who are located somewhere else (usually California) or they're just so expensive. I am really obsessed with Stacy Reeves (www.stacyreeves.com), who is thankfully based in DFW, but her packages start at $3,900 (7 hours, 2 photographers, engagement session included). Is this a typical price range for DFW wedding photographers? It seems other area photographers I've found online (I'm currently out of the country for several months, so I'm having to do the legwork away from home) as nearly as expensive. Or does anyone know of any wedding photographers who shoot in a similar style?
