I just got my dress on Friday, and I didn't love how the back looks (it's a Karena Royale, with corset back:  http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=karena&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=15&style=S5229)

I was thinking of removing the modesty piece so it adds more interest to it.

For those of you who have a corset back dress, can you show me the pictures of the back of your dress whether is with or without the modesty piece?

well it seems like the corset goes really far down, so I would hesitate to say that removing the modesty piece is a good idea. If you wanted to showcase the corset detail more. Perhaps replace the fabric with a sheer or lace one? So you are still covering the lower part, but are able to see the detail more.

Yeah, I have to agree with PP...if you remove the modesty piece you may be exposing a little too much (haha, you might need to sensor your wedding vid!!!)

I'm with the other ladies - I think that the laces go too low to be appropriate without the panel...

If you want to show case the corset, why not change the lacing to a colored ribbon? then it can match the sash and show off the beautiful back

if you took away that modesty piece, i'm pretty sure your nether regions would either show or come pretty damn close to showing!

I should have explained better -- I'm thinking of removing part of the modesty piece -- not the whole thing that shows my butt crack!  Just until around the sash or so.

I couldn't find enough pictures online to compare to know how it would actually look like.

I have the same issue with mine.  It's too low to remove the whole panel, but halfway looks kinda odd to me.  I'm keeping mine in.  Here are pics (w/ panel was me in the sample when I tried it on, w/out was a trial pic at my first fitting):

I think without the panel, it looks unfinished maybe..

I have a corset and I'm leaving the panel in.. heres the pic .

Sorry if the pic is HUGE.

@sbbridebythesea: Oh perfect!  That's exactly the type of pictures I was looking for!  I'm hoping since mine has a sash, it won't look odd...  But you're right, it does look a bit funny...

@Lucy10:  Yours is definitely a smaller "v" than mine is.  The panel on mine just looked too big!

I would leave the panel in-- even if you only take it halfway out, you'll look kind of exposed (like you're just wearing a corset, not a wedding dress)

Some dresses work without the modesty piece, but I personally prefer it. My dress has one.

    @CCSR:

The dress I have on is one size too big so that's why there's not too much of a V but honestly it could look exaclty the same at the back I can't remmeber lol..

@CCSR: Can you have them put a nude piece in or a sheer nude piece? I don't like it with only half it it showing - it looks like it's slipped or wasn't done correctly. Perhaps since it has a colored sash you could get a matching piece in the same color added on the modesty panel - that would make it pop a bit more.

Honestly, I like modesty panels, all too often I think that dresses look like they don't fit w/o them. (Like they appear too small) but thats just a personal opinion.

Sorry but I think you should leave the modesty piece in.  No offense to anyone, but I think it looks a little trashy without it.  Just my opinion.

Please leave the modesty piece in! Its called a "modesty" piece for a reason! Plus, the dress will look unfinished... and would stick out like a sore thumb.

i prefer a modesty piece.. if you really want the corset to stand out why no try the suggestion of some of the PPs by using colored ribbon that matches the sash?

I would leave it in.  It will still look odd with the sash if you do a half modesty piece, because its not like the sash goes over the lacing....
