Yeah, I have no veil. My “maid of honor” was supposed to be making it for me. She just let me know that she’s not because her sewing machine can’t handle the nice fabric. Whatever. This was something I needed to know months ago. She only told me this after I prodded her with information. Not surprised since this is the 3rd thing she’s bailed out on.
Anyway. I have NO IDEA what kind of veil to get. (I guess on ebaY?)
Looking for cheaper options please!
Apologies for my very unamused face, but I was sort of irritated when I took the photo.
I’m really not looking for a birdcage veil. I’ve never particularly liked them, nor the hats because it strikes me as a fashion idea from the 50’s not a wedding fashion idea from the 50’s so it’s odd to me.
I was thinking of getting maybe a drop veil? But I’m not sure how that will look.

I think you should go to a bridal shop and def look at and try on the different veil types. Then you can go on Etsy, Ebay, or even check out the classified ads here on the bee to get a veil possibly for cheaper. My friend made my catherdral length veil and it was literally just a bunch of tulle that she attatched to a hair comb. We scattered and then glued some rhinestones on it and no one knew it was homemade! We saved literally $400 by doing that. Can’t really see the veil too well in the picture below but you get the idea.

@DarthBetty: If you’re dead set on getting a veil, please ignore me, but I feel like your outfit doesn’t need one! I had a tea length dress myself, and opted for flowers instead of any other type of decoration. It felt a little more modern to me if that makes sense, a short wedding dress with a veil does scream “retro bride” to me.

@Hippos: That’s gorgeous! I hadn’t considered that. I had a bad experience at David’s Bridal last time so I didn’t think they would let me bring my nondavid’s bridal gown there or not.
@eocenia: Thank you! I have defintely considered that. I guess right now my thought process is that I wanted a veil, someone bailed out on my veil and I could I guess go without one, but I can’t tell because I’m emotionally comprimised if it’s something I really want or not. I hope that makes sense. Like I’m so angry at her and I knew I wanted a veil but now I could do without one. Maybe I can’t? Maybe I’m just trying to eliminate worries? I can’t tell so much angers I have.

@eocenia: i totally agree.
i really do not see a typical veil with that dress. flowers would be lovely.

I feel kinda silly but you mean flowers in my hair?
Pardon my ignorance.

What did the veil look like that she was supposed to be making?

@DarthBetty: Totally get the anger and disappointment, that’s such a bad way to handle your confidence! Go out for a walk, kick a garbage can or clean the house – get some frustration out of your body! If that doesn’t help, have a glass of wine and try to put this past you.
I don’t have many photos from our wedding yet, but here’s two photos showing my dress and the lack of veil – in case you find that inspiring!
And a late night shot of the flowers that was the only decoration I had in my hair, they’re a little tired here, but that’s the only photo I have at the moment:

@mypinkshoes: I’m obviously biased, but I think flowers would be a much nicer option than a veil!
@DarthBetty: Perhaps something like this if you want a dab of colour?

Contact that other bee that posted about her 3 extra veils!!

@eocenia: What’s that internet word?
That’s beautiful! I wish my hair was long enough for something beautiful like that hair style.
@IzzyBear: I had spoken to her about just using a drop veil. Something very simple like this
But I’m not exactly “fashion savy” and I have no idea if this would work or not. She said she would think about it with my dress and let me know. Needless to say she didn’t not let me know and she never worked on it.
The flowers idea actually seems wonderful! I’m doing wedding succulents and I have short hair (more shoulder length now)
This is a quick idea for hair
Which I’m cluesless about as well. Maybe I could just do a simple pin with a succulent attached?
I’m having difficulty finding 50’s styled shorter hair examples with flowers in them.

I would wear a shoulder-length drop veil! But I LOVE veils, and couldn’t imagine getting married without one!

@DarthBetty: I’m so glad you’re not offended by my suggestions! I know your heart was set on a veil and you’re absolutely in your rights to be disappointed – it’s just that when I saw your dress I thought flowers would be so much prettier!
As for using succulents in your hair, I think it’s a great idea! You could either have a comb with flowers, something like this or this, or perhaps use a few like clips? If you’re going for the 50’s look, I would probably have my hair done something like this, just with succulents instead of the jewel clip.
