Hello! I was wondering if this would look wierd… I know for my moms wedding she had her MOH wear a darker color dress so you could distiguish her from the rest of the girls (and her importance). I was thinking about doing the same thing. For 2 reasons. 1) She is much larger than my other girls so she needs a longer/flowing dress. 2) So she gets her special dress!
I was thinking of either making her dress be longer than the other girls, or have her dress longer and a different shade of pink.
What do you think is a good thing to do?
I love the back of this dress… And I like the front. She has a bit of a “pott belly” and these are the type of dresses she wears to fancy events so I know this will look good on her. And I think it is really pretty!
These are the dresses I want to use in the same color. MOH will wear the long one and the other girls will wear the shorter one. I think they look good together – the matierals look pretty good too…
The dress in the darker color is made out of the same matieral and in Rose Pink – which if I made her wear the long dress in a darker color than the others – this is how it would look.

personally, i think mixing long dresses with short dresses looks a little funny, but i love the different shades of the same color idea!

I also think that mixing long and short dresses looks a little odd. They feel like a different fomality, especially with the two different types of fabric, sorry : I do really like the idea of a deeper and lighter shade of the same color! That sounds really beautiful!

The last wedding I was a bridesmaid in, all bridesmaids had different style dresses in the same length, color, and fabric. We all chose our dresses based on what looked the best on us.
Just by chance, the maid of honor picked the one dress with a mesh overlay over the fabric. It actually looked really nice for the MOH to have a dress that was slightly different from the others.
I think a slightly different dress in a darker color (i.e. same length and fabric) or a different dress in the same color would work well.
I’m not 100% sure how one long MOH dress with short BM dresses would look though.
Also, from a personal standpoint, I’d hope you aren’t telling her that her size is the reason you are considering her wearing a different dress. I know if any of my friends thought that of me I’d be very hurt.

@KatNYC2011: No I am not! Infact, I didn’t even consider her size until when I was at a bridal shop they asked me if I have any large friends and it makes sense. I don’t want her to be uncomfortable in her dress.

@ThePinkTyrant: Didn’t think so, just had to check. I think a different dress is fine, I’m just not sure about the long dress vs. short.

I don’t necessarily think the dress needs to be long and flowy, but I do see where they are coming from with the other dress you have chosen. I think any flowy dress would look great! You could hem the long dress to be the same length and she would still be comfortable, or find any other flowy short dress. I think that short and long work together, but not when its just one long one. Like all different pinks and have two girls in short dresses and two in long ones, it evens it out a bit.

I think whatever makes the girls comfortable, ya know? The last wedding I was in, the bride had us all pick dresses that we liked, the stipulation being navy and knee length.

I think the draping on the front of the dress will cover up a belly on any woman. It will look really nice. Also I like the idea of it being a darker shade because more saturated colors are slimming. I am having my bridesmaid wear fushcia instead of a lighter pink (my wedding color) bc I think a saturated pink will look better on their varying skin colors and will also be slimming and sexy.
