What does it look like when you put the stone loosely into the ring? I dont think it looks small. How big do you want it to be/look? If I’m not mistaken, cushion cuts appear a bit smaller vs other cuts.

@gelaine22:  Yup Cushions look smaller and are less sparkly due to their cut.

Also depends on your finger size.  I have a small hand size 5 with a size 2 round which is the equivilant to a 2.5 cushion (chart here http://www.moissaniteco.com/download/Moissanite-Comparison.pdf)  This is really silly but I physically cut out that chart and placed it on my finger when deciding on shape and size.  I opted for round because the price diff between a 2.5 cushion and 2 round was something like $600 and to me it looks the same overall size wise.  I still do like cushion cuts.  Someone here posted a 2.2ctw one that was amazing last week!

@mrstonta2be:  Good idea.  The setting might “beef” it up too.

@mrstonta2be:  It won’t “weight up” like a diamond will. Moissanite weighs less so the carat size is based on the dimensions, which you can check yourself with a ruler. It should be 7.5mm

I originally wanted a cushion cut diamond but learned that they are cut in a way where the face up in size is smaller than that of a round cut. Honestly, each cut is different and some look bigger than others. This may be the case here.

@aliciapdx:  I did the same thing with the chart, cut it out, put it on my hand, etc.

@HellaCooper:  I also took numerous pictures at different angles.  I thought I was nuts, but after I posted it here many people were like “me too” or “what a great idea,” so I felt less dumb.  Someone had the suggestion of buying a cheap ring from Claires or from online and giving it a test run.
