Are some cuts of moissanite easier to detect from diamonds than others? For example, is it easier to spot a round brilliant moissanite than an oec? Or is a oec easier to spot than a trillion? I know that calibration gives you a clue because moissanite are usually cut in .5mm increments, but are some cuts just easier to tell?

I think, from the pictures I’ve seen, oEC is warmer than RB. I have moissy RB earrings. I love them. They are sparkly and pretty. But, they are not diamonds. They are buttery yellow in certain lights. Moissy is pretty but in nearly every picture on the bee, you can tell moissonite is not a diamond. Just be sure that’s the stone you want. It’s beautiful but it has different properties than a diamond.

The RB is more splintery and shallower than its well cut diamond counterpart, but there are also a lot of poorly/good cut diamonds out there. Cushion cut diamonds also have a lot of variance in how they are faceted, while cushion moissanite just looks like a slightly modified RB.
OEC moissy is actually my favourite cut. I love it and think it looks amazing, even unenhanced.

sporting: the moissanite princess looks nothing like a diamond, doesn’t have the many facets. Personally I think it looks like a cubic. The RB looks exactly like a diamond to me.

The square brilliant looks the most “off” to me. I’m not really that familiar with how a diamond should look as a pear or oval, so I can’t say for sure with those. The RBs look a bit flat/shallow to my eye as compared to a diamond. The cushions are very pretty, but cut exactly like the RBs. To me, the OEC looks the most like a diamond OEC. Here’s a picture from JbEG of diamond OECs, and a picture of my OEC moissy.

I have a round brilliant and I don’t think it really looks like a diamond, especially when you see it in person because it sparkles so differently. I don’t have much of an issue with it looking warm or buttery, but I have a smaller stone (6mm/0.75 ct). It seems like moissanites show more color when they get larger.

In my opinion I think the OEC resembles a diamond the most. Oecs are cut more similar and often tend to look warmer, which is great if your trying to pass a moissanite off as a diamond as oec diamond shows body color too.
