@louonline:  where did you purchase the moissanite? From what I’ve read different companies have higher and lower quality moisaanite.

Are they enhanced? Although I have heard people say that under a carat the enhancement isn’t really necessary. I have some small round moissanite studs, and they are a little warm, but definitely very sparkly… Perhaps the cut has influenced the appearance somewhat?

I also purchased a couple of loose moissanite and was very disappointed. The oval was snot green in color and had no sparkle at all. The 6mm round forever brilliant was better, but the color was much warmer than what other bees have posted on here. I reckon i’m being sent the worst stones as i live in Australia.

Is there any chance they were old stock (since it sounds like they were store bought)? Otherwise, I dunno… It’s making me worry now lol, my partner is ordering one soon. Can you contact the place you bought it from and ask if it’s defective?

@louonline:  Rounds will naturally face up MUCH whiter than a princess…try an enhanced stone. My round enhanced is WHITE WHITE WHITE.

@louonline:  Moissys arent very common in the UK (I’m from the UK too) but its a shame you didnt get good ones! All I can guess is that because the market for it isn’t very high over here theres a restriction on the quality available.

ETA. If you’re not wanting a diamond for whatever reason, perhaps buying a loose CZ stone then getting it set in gold or whatever you want might be an idea? I bought a CZ ring to wear at work as it was a very manual job from M&S of all places, and literally everyone who sees it comments and says its the most amazing ‘diamond’ ever lol.

I don’t think moissanite actually comes in a princess cut.  What you have is probably a square brilliant, which I’ve heard isn’t as sparkly as a princess.  I haven’t seen one IRL, but I’ve seen several posts from people who weren’t happy with the SB because it didn’t behave like a princess cut.

There are true princess cut moissanite stones, but the more common is indeed the square brilliant, but both will sparkle less and show a lot more tint to them than a cushion moissanite or a round stone. If  you liked the cushion, I’d get a larger cushion cut center stone, as I think you would be pleased with those. 🙂
