I thought my moissanite looked better than the diamonds in the jewelry store.

Sounds like you already know what you want, then!!

Go with the moissanite!!  Its a much more practical choice than the diamond.

I haven’t gone into a jewelry store with my moissy yet, but I can imagine it would be like elevator lighting… Which is the absolute best for my moissy. Any kind of pot lights (that may not be the right term) make my moissy sparkle like CRAZY. I always try to take pics but fail. Where are you getting your moissy from? Is it enhanced? Either way, I’m sure it will look great. Here’s my best attempt at getting the sparkle.. 🙂

It actually downplays their differences… not eliminates, but they will look most similar to each other under this form of lighting as they will both be shooting shorter bursts of fire everywhere and it’s hard to see base color as well.

Except, depending on the specific lighting, it may show the moissanite’s fluorescence. If the jeweler regularly sells moissanite, he/she will have pink-tinged light to make them look whiter. If he/she usually sells only diamonds, the uncorrected lighting may cause it to look especially yellow-green.

Just ask to see it near a window with natural light. It’s the only way I’d buy a diamond, too. Who cares what it looks like in the jewelry store? It only matters what it will look like in real life.

You should look at any jewelry you buy in regular lighting regardless of the stone. Take it to a window or outside–most jewelers will let you do that!

@Jabberwocky:  if they have a window you can go look at both in the lighting of the window. I took an amora moissanite to a jeweler to compare, and even under their lighting the differences were glaringly obvious. I guess I wouldn’t worry too much other than trying to look in various lighting conditions. If you know you like moissanite in all lighting since you already have it, that should help your decision.

Mine looks amazing under jewelry store lighting. And very very very similar next to the diamonds in the store. I cannot tell them apart under those lighting conditions.
