I have spent the last year and a half searching the Bee for as much information about moissanites and moissanite pictures as possible. I have finally…er…finally *again* found THE ring. What I am trying to say is, I thought I knew what I wanted and ended up changing my mind, convenient, huh?? Costly, for sure!
Once we decided moissanite was the stone for us, we found SerenadeDiamonds on etsy.com (I am in no way connected to Serenade, simply providing a review). Lauren and Juan were a dream to work with. I talked with Lauren on the phone several times and they did everything they could to create the ring I asked for, which was a 5.5mm square Forever Brilliant, kite-set, with diamonds on the band. I really loved the ring initially but quickly noticed there were some practicality issues — which were in no way Serenade’s fault. The ring is very dainty, the band is 2mm or less and I was very worried about bumping it and having diamonds fall out. We have 2 large dogs and I use my hands ALL the time. We all know square/princess cut stones have sharp corners and it seemed like I was always scratching myself or my fiance with the ring. It also has a pretty low profile and it made it very difficult to find a band that would fit, I don’t mind a small gap but everything seemed to stick out so much farther (the width off the finger) than the e-ring which I thought looked funny. I should also mention, I did not want a band that matched, I wanted the rings to be noticeably different or a stack, a la Kate Beckinsale.
Lastly, the square moissanite, even with the FB enhancement, seemed to show A LOT of color. I am assuming I am pretty color sensitive, I doubt anyone else ever noticed but where I live we have overcast days regularly and that seemed to be the worst lighting for my stone. I think the diamond sidestones actually added to the problem. They are always SO white and it made the color of the center stone much more obvious (in my opinion). It started to bother me so much that with all things considered, I decided to try to sell my ring and look for something else.
Once I accepted that I was going to start a new search, I started looking for the exact opposite! I wanted a solitaire, no risk of losing side stones. I found several on MoissaniteCo’s website as well as other sellers on etsy and asked them many questions, all of which were responded to in a timely manner. I might be one of the most indecisive people EVER. If you are having a hard time choosing a ring, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I think I became paranoid after changing my mind the first time and second guessed EVERYTHING!
I have never cared for really visible prongs and ultimately discovered my love of bezel settings. MoissaniteCo had several that were really well priced and I FINALLY settled on Sol 400 with a 6.5mm round FB. Even after ordering the ring I was questioning my decision many times a day! “What if the milgrain was too chunky and not delicate enough for me?” “What if I don’t like the look of the round FB?” and on and on and on………..
WELL, we finally picked it up from FedEx last night and IT IS BEAUTIFUL! This ring is so much more “me” than I could have hoped for! As soon as I saw it, it was like a light went off. So far, the round FB moissanite seems to show a lot less color and sparkles like crazy! I would definitely make another purchase from MoissaniteCo in the future but I think I have found the band I want from RosadosBox, also on etsy.com. Hopefully, I will have more to add on that another time
For reference I am attaching pictures of both rings. I am a size 6 finger.
Please keep in mind, I haven’t had much time to photograph my new ring so I apologize for the cellphone quality. I have also found it is difficult to capture when the stone is showing the greenish, grayish, yellowish color I noticed with the square stone. When it doesn’t exhibit that color, it also sparkles like crazy! I do have video of it if anyone is interested, message me.
