Hi Bees! This is my first post, I am a long-term lurker.
So, I convinced my boyfriend to let me look around online for what I was looking for and find the best price. I decided to purchase a moissanite 1ct round stone in a solitaire setting ($160). The ring itself is sterling silver coated with Platinum. I felt like this was a steal so I went for it with intentions of taking the stone out and having it set into a bottom line white gold solitare setting. (our budget is incredibly low — want to spend up to $400 total max).
So, I emailed a few jewelers in my area and all were more than happy to work with my moissanite, but their estimated price-range threw me off. ($800-$2500) just to set my stone in a new plain solitaire setting! I was floored. I still have time to return the ring I had purchased. Should I return and keep looking for already-set white gold moissanite rings that are in my price range? Or is there another option such as setting the stone myself or finding white gold settings online and taking them in to the jewelers? Where can I find a site that sells just settings/semi-mounts online?
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
