@Kristyml287:  Firstly, welcome to the hive!

I have a 3ct (9mm) Amora Old European Cut Moissanite & think it is simply devine! I used to own a loose 3ct Round Brilliant & liked it quite a bit less than my current OEC. The OEC cut can definitely pass for diamond, although I don’t pass mine off.

The square brilliant is, unfortunately, not amongst my favorite cut; especially compared to the princess cut that isn’t yet available in moissanite. Although, let me assure you that Schubach’s is an absolutely fantastic jewelers, so definitely continue to consider them.

The first few pics are of my OEC e-ring (the first pic the center stone is dirty), and the last pic is a comparison pic between a princess cut and square brilliant cut:

I have a 1ct princess cut moissanite, with diamond halo and pave band. The website pictures don’t do it justice –

It is 1.2 total weight and I love it. My rules was the ring had to be under $1k and this was, plus beautiful! It has a slightly warm tinge (yellowish) in some light but no one knows it isnt a diamond (that has admitted it at least!). The warm tinge is normal for moissanite.

Unfortunately, neither does the pic I have on hand… (the ring is not actually crooked, it’s the reglection/angle of the camera)

Some people don’t like the square cut but others live theirs and I’ve seen really pretty ones. I pulled some pics from online so you can see the difference in the cut. Both square, different cut. It’s up to you if you like it.

** Ack, Im using my phone so I got some typos. The square brilliant is on the right, princess cut is on the left.  Ive seen way better square brilliants than the ones pictured. Good luck!! 🙂

I also considered a square cut moissanite but decided to go with a cushion. With what I’ve seen the square brilliant looks much nicer and would look ‘closer’ to a diamond. As far as schubachs goes: I highly recommend them. I’m in the process of getting a custom ring made and beth has been amazing. I started emailing her months before we were actually ready to start the process and there was never pressure to buy, just honest opinions based on her experience.

There are pricess cuts in moissanite, as well as the square brilliant.  😉  So just make sure you say which one you want.  🙂

I have a forever brilliant square 1.7ct. Near colorless(G-I). The thing about the square moissinite, they do NOT look like a “diamond”. They have a weird snowflake look to them. Like a strange star. If you’re looking for something that looks like a “diamond” stick to round. I was very disappointed in the look. We paid $1550 for it. I wish we would’ve returned it before the 30 days. 🙁
