If you want to pass it off as real, I’d probably go for a more reasonable size like 1-1.5.  I wouldnt say anything, but knowing what a 2ct good quality diamond cost, I’d definitely question if it were real if I saw a yonug student with one, or think she was a spoiled rich kid.  If you dont care what people think and just want a big sparkly, then just get whatever you want.

@pinkshoes:  +1 but I would go at 1ct or less if you are tryin to be tryin to pass it off and less than that if you are getting a halo

I have a 1 ct halo, also moissanite. My finger is a size 6, and I wouldn’t go any bigger than that. You can look at a ring pic if you want in my previous post “We got engaged”

@pinkshoes: +1

Then again, as someone who received an heirloom (that was far, far more expensive than my college-age self or DH could have afforded), I know that some young people do have larger rings/center stones that are real because of luck/others’ generosity/etc. So, I’d probably wonder if it’s real or fake, but I certainly wouldn’t lay money on it. Get what you want OP. Unfortunately, some people will judge you for your choice no matter what it happens to be.

I just looked at the ring you mentioned in a previous post you made. If you really want to know how much space it will take on your finger, send an email in and ask for the measurement across of the halo. Mine is 9.4 mm across. I went to the page that shows how big the moissanite stones are and picked the one that showed a 9.44 stone, cut it out, and slapped it on my finger. I wanted to be sure it wasn’t going to be giant.

Anyway, like some others said.. I wouldn’t worry about it. You’ll be wearing it for a long time so just get what you want.

I got engaged last month in hawaii, my ering has a 2.20 ct round brilliant diamond center stone, and it cost around 25k, fiancé is a partner in a Law Firm, if your fiancé is still in school it would look highly suspicious that he was able to efford it. That’s my opinion.

A 1- 1.30 ct would be more credible.

For reference, my center is .46 in a halo and I’m a size 6.  It’s not exceptionally ‘blingy’ but it is noticable.  I think a 2ct center will look beautiful, but if I saw it and knew you didn’t have the money to spend on it I would absolutely wonder.  I’d never say anything out loud though!  Here’s a pic of my ring on my finger to give you an idea.

Mine is a round brilliant with a cushion halo, so I have the best of both worlds LOL.  Either one would be beautiful though!!

As a fellow college student, if I saw another student or even recent grad with anything bigger than a carat, I’d wonder.

A 2ct with a halo would be massive XD. I have a 1ct solitaire and it still looks huge on my size 10 fingers (though I’m British and ct size average is small here).

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get what you love the most though! I was wearing a three stone CZ and silver ring (2ct centre) when I was visiting the cathedral and a very rich, very important Old man came over to complement me on my diamonds. I said “oh no, it’s just a pretty dress ring, nothing pricey but thankyou for the complement” and he told me it didn’t matter, he said someone could be wearing diamonds or even plastic, class was immediately noticeable and with class you can carry anything off. He then told my bf (now fiance) to make sure he married me. I was very touched by his kind words.
