Hello Hive! Hello Bees!
This is my first post here. I think it might be too long but I hope to get better at posting in the future to avoid that haha!
I am posting before he actually proposes (we ordered it last weekend) because I want to share my experience with MoissaniteCo thus far and will update once I receive the ring. I know that there is a lot of opinions and posts on here concerning MoissaniteCo and I want to put my two cents in. I know weddingbee and betterthandiamonds (which I found through wedding bee) greatly informed me and helped me decide to consider moissanite for a stone. I hope to help someone else with this decision as well.
I was actually lucky enough to find out about the gem from a friend who’s ring I just could not get over. We met for lunch after her wedding and I couldn’t believe the fire and the “sparkle” her ring gave off. I told her it was one of the prettiest rings I had ever seen. She thanked me and we went on with our talk.
A couple weeks later I asked her if she had ever heard of moissy because we were looking into it. We just bought a house and I have student loan debt and hope to go back for my PhD. While he could take out a line of credit on a ring, I really didn’t want to go down that route for us personally just because of my hopes to go back to school. That’s when she told me that her ring was actually a moissanite. I was over the MOON!
What attracted me to MoissaniteCo was the variety of settings on their website. I always thought I wanted a princess cut with halo and pave side stones but when I saw one on my finger at a local jeweler, it just didn’t work with my hands. There are SO many options on their site that you’re bound to find something you love.
I used both their live chat as well as their sales email to ask several questions. I even asked annoying questions such as “what is the size in mm of the tiny loops of the infinity symbol”. Mike was incredibly patient and responded to any questions I had literally within the hour. He was so nice and personable to me and never once made me feel silly for asking that. He actually offered to send me a free wax mold of the setting so I could see it on my finger instead of trying to hold a ruler up to it! What I loved most about that was that he actually cared and wasn’t just trying to rattle off a number to make a sale. He wanted to help me be sure about the setting which is a big deal when you’re buying sight unseen.
I had informed him that we would be making our purchase and he told me he’d ensure it was well taken care of. While it might be just words, it meant a lot to me because he was acknowledging that we all want to hear that about a piece of jewelry that is such a huge milestone.
While I know some people have passed judgment on me selecting my ring and knowing exactly which ring he chose for me, I am so glad that i got to be a part of the process because I discovered moissanite and subsequently moissaniteco. I don’t think my future FI would have looked into alternative stones as I know he had some reservations. From here on out, I know nothing because he wants the proposal to be a surprise and I don’t want to see the ring until he actually does propose. I am so excited and will be sure to post a follow up of the ring, the proposal, and any further interactions with Moissaniteco.
I just really wanted to give them credit where credit is due and, while I am so sorry to the bees who were not satisfied and my heart would be broken if something happened to my engagement ring, please know that they do care (in my experience) and that mistakes, glitches and the like do happen sometimes. I tend to have really bad luck but I really do believe that Mike would work with me to rectify any issue I have.
I hope I’m not stepping on anybody’s toes I just really wanted to share my experience thus far and will update to let you know how the rest of my experience went.
