its true!..I heard about this from another bee a few weeks ago that own an oec..I was hoping to get one as a right hand ring but I guess that wont be happening! I agree they are my fav too..but according to charles and colvard it is actually one of their least popular cuts which I find hard to believe but I guess they dont sell enough of them to keep producing. But I did hear that the amora gem will have an oec and I hope its true!

I had heard this as well.  I called and emailed them through live chat.  This was the basic response from both communicatons.  I do not know if it is accurate, but this is what their employees are saying.

Tammy: How may I assist you today?

you: I had a question regarding oec moissanite. Is it being discontinued or will it still be available?

Tammy: Are you asking about the octagon shape stone? If so, no it is not being discontinued.

you: No. The old European Cut.

you: Are you still there?

you: I am trying to determine time frame so that I can purchase another stone before they are not available.

Tammy: As of now no they are not being discontinued, but that could change but I have no time frame on when

I plan to order an OEC for a rose gold RHR. I saw the note from Less of BTD and  just went on the Charles and Colvard website to live chat to find out if the OEC discontinued info was accurate. Based on the conversation it seems that BTD’s infor is innacurate. Here is a transcript of the live chat:

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with ‘Tammy’

Tammy: Thank you for choosing Moissanite.com!

Tammy: http://www.moissanite.com/

Tammy: May I have your name please?

Tammy: How may I assist you today?

you: Hi my name is (deleted)

you: I read online that Charles and Colvard are stopping production of Old European Cuts. Is that accurate?

you: Is it true that C&C will no longer be producing OEC going forward?

Tammy: At this time no we are not stopping production of this cut.

you: Ok I read on another site that the only OEC’s left are whatever is in various companies inventory at the moment and no more will be produced going forward. Just so I’m totally clear- that is false information?

Tammy: At this time we have no plans on stopping production

you: Thank you very much!

you: That is great news!

Tammy: Is there anything else I can assist you with?

you: No that’s everything! I will be purchasing soon.

Tammy: Have a wonderful day.

Tammy: Thank you for visiting.  Please contact us at anytime.

Tammy: Thank you for chatting.  Good-bye.

Thanks for doing your research ladies! I should’ve known to NOT TRUST ANYTHING that comes out of Less’s mouth! I bet he’s just trying to get the AG OEC hyped up or something. Or maybe BTD has too many OECs laying around so he said that? Who knows – simply speculation on my part!

So happy to hear they aren’t discontinuing the cut. On BTD they said that C&C had ALREADY stopped cutting. Who knows where he gets his info from…

Yay 🙂 Now my dream of a BP OEC isn’t totally crushed 🙂

At the same time it’s a bit disconcerting that the C&C Tech Person Tammy thought OEC means Octagon. Who the hell buys octagon anyways!? Has anyone ever even seen one on these boards? Someone please post if you have one! I loved to see!! Same with the Castle cut. WTH is that!? lol

Just checked the C&C site and now they have them for sale as loose stones – up and listed. Here’s the kicker though..

C&C lists a 6.5mm 1ct eq FB OEC for $689

MCo still has their 6.5mm 1ct eq FB OEC for $540 – which is what I paid for mine through Schubach’s as well.

I’m guessing we’re going to see a crazy price increase on the OECs so I say order yours now – through MCo and save a few hundred!!! (Before they catch on!)

I chatted with C&C about the $144 price difference (MCo actually sells them for $545):

Sharlene: Thank you for choosing Moissanite.com!

Sharlene: http://www.moissanite.com/

Sharlene: How may I assist you today?

Me: Hello, can you please tell me why the price of a loose Forever Brilliant Old European Cut 6.5mm stone is $689 on your website, but is $540 on moissaniteco.com? If C&C is the only maker of moissanite, wouldn’t C&C offer it at the best price? I am confused about the $149 price difference.

Sharlene: I am not sure but we will price match the item once it is verified to be the same item. Was Moissaniteco.com having a sale?

Me: Nope.

Me: I can send you the link.

Me:http://www.moissaniteco.com/forever_brilliant_loose_stones.html

Me: Sorry, $545

Sharlene: One moment while I check into this.

Sharlene: We can price match, but moissaniteco.com buys their stones from distributors and the quality is a lower grade then the stones that we sell.

Me: Thank you!
