MsKnitter:  We had our local jeweler order my stone. I have a 7.5mm forever brillant round moissy, and I love it! I think it is very clear. The only time I see color, and I mean only, is out in fog.. It will be a little butter yellow. Very slightly. But, even than, I love it. Love the color of it. Here is a pic. Any questions I can help answer??

MsKnitter:  I don’t see much difference in my moissy, compared to friends diamonds.. Someone on here also just recently said my moissy is the whitest she has ever seen. So, I am guessing others may be more color moody. Mine isn’t honestly. And, it was a forever brillant. But, my jeweler did know all about moissanite, he knew exactly what I wanted when I asked for the forever brillant stone. And, he orders directly from charles and colvard. Which we thought was super awesome! Does your jeweler order directly from them too? Was it for sure forever brillant stones he ordered?? Mine came with the certificate. If you can, honestly, can you order a loose stone from moissanite.com yourself? Than you can see it at home and all. And, bring it in to the jeweler to compare with the diamond settings.

Honestly, if I put my stone in a diamond setting now, it wouldn’t be that much color difference at all. Maybe just when we are out in fog/cloudy weather. But that wouldn’t bother me really.

MsKnitter:  Oh, see, that moissy may have been from a year or two back. That may be why it is still slightly yellow, compared to mine which seems to be super white.. I would order a newer fb stone if you can. I am not familiar with the betterthandiamond. But, I hear they are good. As long as they get directly from charles & colvard, and the stone is a newer batch, you should be okay.. It seems the newer batches are just slightly whiter than ones from back a year or more.

MsKnitter:  I recommend J-K colored melee diamonds in the setting. That’s what I have in my ring and it was recommended to me by MrsSkeletonKey as well as Beth from Schubach’s. I don’t think you can tell a difference at all, and the J diamonds still look very, very white to me.

For reference: 1 ct FB OEC moissy, ~0.5 ct J colored diamonds in halos and shank, size 7 finger

Also, Beth at Schubach’s is known for have “THE EYES” for moissanite. If you want a second gen FB (the whitest) call Schubach’s and order a stone from them to compare. I don’t think they have a restocking fee on loose stones, but you might want to double check just in case.

MsKnitter:  Even take that with a grain of salt.  I have heard repeatedly that center stones look differently when set.

MsKnitter:  I had a local store order in Charles & Coulvard FB rounds in 7.5mm and 8mm for me. (ended up going with the 8mm because of my hand size 8 and the 8mm was just honestly “prettier” when I saw them next to each other.) If you are unsure…I would ask if they can order in more of the size you’re into so you can compare. I did. Because I’m totally a spaz. …Though I kind of think they didn’t and just showed me the 7.5mm again. If you don’t quite like the one they got…just get a second opinion, you’ll probably feel better and then know which you REALLY want. Anyhow, I still liked the one I settled on best…and he already had bought it for me so I am attached! Here are my 8mm pics – he’s gotta have the ring made yet 🙁 boooo! It’s gonna take forever!!! lol!
