Oh my gosh. Moms can be the craziest, huh? It's good that your cousin caught up with you instead of just taking what your mom said at face-value.
Oh, moms are so crazy. I'm sorry this happened but at least you know you won't be actually calling off the wedding!

Seriously? My mom almost 'dismissed' my MOH today!
My mom is usually quirky but harmless. She gets these wild ideas in her head or she'll overthink something and come to strange conclusions, generally with no harm intended.
So, my FI got into a fight over the holidays. Nothing major, we are all packed like sardines into my parents house and we'd had a horrible travel experience getting here - we just got short with each other.
So my cousin is going to be my MOH... apparently my mom pulled her aside and told her not to count on it because we might not be getting married after all! My cousin found me and was all concerned, wanting to know why the wedding might be off!
Oh geez, the stories you end up telling as a result of wedding planning. I used to read this stuff and laugh, thinking, surely that won't be me...
