- Wedding: August 2012
After showing my mom my invitation idea last night, she sent me an email later on, basically saying my invitation wasn’t good enough. She said nothing matches and offered to pay for “upgraded” invites.
First, I don’t have the bride gene. I hate all aspects of planning this wedding. Anytime I check something off the list, like finding invites, I breathe a sigh of relief.
Second, who cares about the invite? They end up in the trash anyways. I would rather spend the money on something else.
Third, anytime my mom doesn’t like something, she offers to pay for the “upgrade.” That’s fine, but I don’t want to spend the time finding the “upgraded” thing, when I already have something that I like just fine.
Fourth, my invitations, response cards, and details cards do match. They came in an invitation kit from Walmart/JoAnn Fabrics. The invitation kit didn’t have the old-fashioned inner and outer envelope, so I picked an outer envelope out. The invitation is white and the envelope is gray (my wedding colors are slate and purple). I knew if I didn’t do an inner/outer envelope my mom would freak, because she is old-fashioned in her ways.
Am I being an ungrateful brat? What should I do?
