Yesterday we went to help my mom move some furniture around since she just put in hard wood floors in her house (by herself, my mom is a badass), but she needed help moving her gigantic wood and glass diner table.
Well we went over and helped her and she pawned her carpet cleaner and various other little things off on me like she usually does anytime we go see her. (lol, she goes thrifting and gives me everything she replaces)
Anyway as we were leaving SO went to go close the garage for her, and she waved and said “Love you Fabio!” (his nickname) and he went over and hugged her like he hugs me. Which is more picking her up and spinning in a circle and kissing her forehead. Which is just so friggin adorable, as she is all of 5’4 and SO is 6’7.
And he said “I love you too Mama S!”
I’m telling ya girls, I could have just bawled right then. I’m so happy!

Awesome! My SO invited my stepdad to go to baseball game with us tonight. I’m so excited that we’re all doing things together like a family. It gives me hope! 🙂

Aww, that’s so sweet! It’s so nice to read about HEALTHY inlaw relationships. My mom absolutely loves DH, and he feels more comfortable with her than he does with his own mom. (Not happy that he’s not close to his own mom, of course, but I am super happy that he loves mine.)

Its really nice when the SO becomes part of the family. I think it sort of makes things “real”.
Sometimes i think my family likes my FI more than me haha.

I love that he is so helpful to my Mom, she could call him at 3am to clean her gutters and he would be there at 6am with a ladder.
Not that Mom would do that.
I’ve never had this happen before with any of my ex boyfriends. None of them took the time to sit down and get to know my Mom. Which is a damn shame because I have an amazing mother.
and it DOES make it more “real”, I had a weird sence of deja vu kinda like we’d be doing that exact same thing on another fall night in 20 years.
I don’t know why it struck me like it did, I’m just so blissfull and I haven’t stopped grinning.

Anyone else have GOOD stories about In laws?

@HelleCat: That is adorable. I love happy in-law stories.
FI and I spend quite a bit of time with each other’s families, but the other night we were at his parent’s watching a movie with his mom when she jumps up runs into the bedroom and says “Here I got this for you guys……Actually I got this before you were engaged……..Ok, truth is I bought it right after you started dating because I just knew this was going to happen.” I almost bawled.

I LOVE it when my FI invites my dad and brother to play golf, or when my brother invites my FI to poker night. Neither of which involve me. I am so happy that they are cultivating a relationship outside of my presence, if that makes any sense!

That’s so awesome.
FI’s family and I are like that, and he’s definitely like that with my family. He goes on fishing trips with my Dad. Our Mom’s also always wanted us to get back together, hahaha.
It is so nice to know you’re actually becoming part of a another family!!

I love my FI’s family. They’re so nice and generous and do everything to make me feel comfortable. They’re super! Their family is super tightknit and large, and they’re all so incredibly nice.
