My stepmom had the same issue; she ended up buying a bunch of dresses at stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and some department stores, trying them all on at home (where she felt most comfortable) and choosing one or two to bring to the wedding. She looked great! i will say that the dress hunt might be a little emotionally challenging for your mom, but just keep encouraging her and help her along the way. Congrats to you and your mom and family! That's such great news :)
Which city are you going shopping in? Perhaps some local bees could give you specific stores in that area.
In general - Nordstroms, Macys, and all department stores would have something. Also check discount stores - Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross, Steinmart, etc for good deals. There are probably other good local stores.
Good luck! And hugs to your Mom for being cancer free!
I have nothing to really add about dresses because I think you have some great options listed up there, but all best wishes to you and your mom! That's so great that she's doing well!
We haven't decided exactly where we will go yet... because of where we live, we can go to Buffalo area or detroit area, as they are the same distance approximately from where we live... so we figure we would start with some store ideas and then research which location has the most of them :)
Congrats! I know that has to be an excellent feeling. My aunt was diagnosed with buckshot breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. After the mastectomy and breast augmentation, she is very happy. She bought a beautiful suit to wear to my wedding that looks something like the picture below. Hope this helps!
I am no help when it comes to things like shopping, but YAY for your Mom! What amazing news!
Yay that is such exciting news! My mom is undergoing treatment for breast cancer right now and I can't wait til I can say the same thing. The other bees already gave some great suggestions. I definitely would go to Nordstrom, they have beautiful dresses that are not overly frumpy for middle aged women. Hope you have fun on your shopping trip. Yay mom!
first off, congratulations to you and your mom for overcoming this hurdle. my mom had breast cancer when i was 12, so i completely understand how excited you must be, and yet still stressed cause of that dress haha.
unfortunately i'm also from canada, so i have no idea where you could get dresses, but good luck!
@MrsH2010 where is that outfit from??? I really like that... not sure if my mom would, but I can let her decide :)
So happy for your Mom!
Like @Melissabegins, I love Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's. I took my mom to the local mall and bought her dress, on sale, at Belk for $50.

Hey ladies... I'm hoping for some help!
My wedding is in 3 months, and my mom does not have a dress. She had picked out a gorgeous gown, but was then diagnosed with breast cancer, and unable to wear the dress she had chosen (V nexk with clevage open back!). We decided to wait until her chemo was over, and she had her mastectomy, so we could see where her scars were and what she was comfortable in. Fast forwards 6 months and she is CANCER FREE!!! YAY!!! Unfortunately, the local bridal shops can't get in dresses on such short notice... so we have to buy it on our own. We are heading into the states next weekend to shop (cheaper there then in Canada!) and are wondering... what stores would you recommend us looking into???? I've heard Macy's and Nordstrom... but we need a selection! Plus, because of her cancer she has not been working in 7 months and has a limited income... so we cant afford anything extravagant.... HELP!!!
