    MrsUPS:

I think there are lots of other decor decisions that are equally easy to set up amd take down.

I’m not sure poinsettias would be the greatest match for the various shades of pink and coral that you previously posted for your bridesmaids’ dresses, uness you choose white/pink poinsettias.

You could give a nod to the season using white trees. Using a few white trees with no decorations other than maybe a pink topper would be beautifully simple.

or make a “tree” with spray painted white branches.

MrsUPS: Poinsettias in all shades of pink are very common and easily obtained. You could place an order with your local florist or nursery so you get exactly what you want and not depend on what’s available at the grocery store.

Have you ever considered doing a “vintage” Christmas theme? I’ve seen loads of Pinterests posts where a “vintage” or even “Shabby Chic” Christmas would allow you to incorporate many of your colors and instead of the traditional red, green, and gold, you could still use your pinks and then whites and blues. You could still decorate the tree, but in those colors instead. It would still have a Christmas feel and you could still utilize a lot of what will be available, but stay away from the traditional red and green and go more vintage-y/Shabby Chic.

Are you marrying in a church?  Will it already be decorated for Christmas? If so, you might just leave the church as it is, save a few pew markers and pink poinsettias, and it will be lovely.  I don’t think it commercializes Christmas.  You are a Christian, celebrating a joyous time in your life during a joyous season in the church!

You definitely do not sound even minorly convinced. What is YOUR vision?

MrsUPS:  why will people be expecting a Christmas themed wedding? Maybe Australia’s different (because December is summer so it’s wedding season anyway), but I’ve been to many December weddings and none had a Christmas theme.

I think you should ignore your mother and have what you want. Since you’re not comfortable with a Christmas themed wedding, don’t do it.

My mother was also wanting me to get married closer to Christmas time! So I know your struggle. As much as a winter themed, romantic Christmastime wedding sounds… I just think it would be too much to clash your wedding along with everything else that comes with the season. I mean you would still have to do your Christmas shopping, plan your Christmas meals, family time etc… I know a girl who had her wedding on Christmas Eve because her family was mostly out of state, and they only could afford to fly out for Christmas. It made 100% sense for her to do that, while the entire family was all together anyway. It really just depends on YOUR vision, and what is easiest for you!

MrsUPS:  I would not want a themed wedding personally but I think either way, it’s YOUR day so make sure whatever she is suggesting is something you actually want. It sounds like it is not!
