I had major dress regret with my initial champagne dress. The nice ladies at the salon let me exchange it.. and I found this dress, which I LOVE, love, LOVE!! I wanted a low back, ruffles and for it to be “different”. Well, I brought my mom in for the final decision and I could tell she didn’t love it. She commented my stomach looked paunchy, which I agree with, but was still upsetting to hear…. Now I can’t get her comments out of my head… that it looks like a spare tire (my words ha).
I obviously need to lose the paunch, but is the fit that bad??? I thought it fit really well, holds the girls in, and the ladies at the salon said no alterations necessary.

I don’t see paunch at all. You look great! It looks like it fits you really well. You can also always wear a body shaper or spanx underneath if it makes you more comfortable. Personally, I think it would look better with a crinoline to poof out the skirt a bit because I think the join between the skirt and bodice looks a little odd when it’s hanging straight down. It’s a very unique dress though!

I see no paunch… I see a lovely woman in an amazing dress! Don’t over think this, we are all our own worst critics! If you love it get it, it looks fantastic on you!

I dont see it. Maybe if you are worried about it, get some spanx… but I still dont see what she means. If you lose more weight, alterations might need to happen.

I don’t know what a paunch is-but you’ve got nothing but a hot body in that dress!! It’s something totally different and it looks amazing on you! Forget your mom!

It just feels shitty to love a dress and have your family not love it and/or find its flaws.

@lealorali: It’s not uncommon to want your mom and other important people to love the dress you love, but this is not a dress problem, and it’s not a problem with the shape of your body. This is a problem with you giving other people’s opinions more value than your own, and being overly critical of yourself. I think you should sit down with your mom, tell her you really need to hear that it’s about what YOU want and what will make you happy on your wedding day, and then remind yourself that you are beautiful. You look AMAZING in that dress. I don’t see a paunch at all.

Oh, that was very harsh of her! Sure, if being brutally honest is the thing – you can see a slight bulge in the first photo (if you’re very critical), but that’s nothing you can’t fix with some exercise or just underwear if you feel like you don’t have the time.

I do not see a paunch! Your mom is seeing things.

@lealorali: I can barely see the “paunch” that she is talking about in the first photo but that’s only if I really look for it. If it’s bothering you, have you considered wearing some spanx under the dress? I really think the dress is unique, gorgeous and looks great on you. We all have our flaws. There are very few women out there that are physically flawless.
