This is my first post and I was excited to find this site. My boyfriend and I are talking about getting engaged. I'm not really interested in having a diamond. Possibly a few little diamonds around a center stone is fine but I am not a traditional kind of girl. I'd like something different something of a conversation piece. I really like tourmaline I love the options of color without the expense. Does anyone know the durability of the stone compared to a diamond? I was also looking at moisintie but wonder does it really look so different from a diamond? I know I am the one who has to love it. I'm just a little lost. I've read a good bit but idk when I'm sitting with my girlfriends I appreciate the tradition of a diamond but really dislike the conflict related to them and I don't like the difficulty in the distinction all white gold, all 1 to 1.5 in size, either round or princess cut.......any thoughts? I've noticed a lot of Laurie Sarah rings that I keep going back to and really love . Anyone else havesuggestions on stones or sellers?

I don't know about tourmalines, but sapphires come in many colors and are very durable. Lab-created sapphires are just as strong as natural ones, without flaws, and dirt cheap. I'd check them out :)

I love the idea of a tourmaline ering! Tourmaline can be pretty expensive too but it comes in such a array of colors, my fav is watermelon tourmaline. I would just check its hardness level on the mohs scale because you'll want to get a durable stone if you plan to wear your ering everyday.

As far as moissanite is concerned, its very pretty. People will most likely think its a diamond unless you tell them otherwise. I had never heard of moissanite until I came onto the bee. Not my thing for an ering but I would love some moissy studs!
