Hi, Bees!  I have lurked here for awhile but this is my first post.

To any Monique Lhuillier brides - I'm going to be wearing a beautiful A-line, lace Monique Lhuillier dress to my wedding in June.  I tried on the dress with an ivory Monique 4" sash, but didn't buy the sash at the time as it cost ~$400 and my consultant told me I could get the same thing for a fraction of the cost at M&J Trimmings.  Now I'm looking at M&J and I can't find anything wider than 3" - any ideas where I should look?  I really want a nice silk/satin sash, so I could just buy the original ML one, but I would like to spend that money elsewhere if I can.

    Thanks!

Eeks, I'm going through the same thing.  I ordered my ML and *thought* I could find a Latte sash on my own (the under the lace color I have).  However, no luck.  Turns out I might bite the bullet and buy the expensive one just to color match perfectly...

Unless someone else can help.  ;)

No pics, it's basically just a plain ivory 4" wide sash.  There was nothing particularly special about it, which was why I thought buying it elsewhere made sense, but now I can't find the same width anywhere.  I'm able to pay the money for the ML sash if I need to, but it seems like something that shouldn't be necessary to go "brand name" on!

@Buffy - do you know how far in advance you have to order the sash from ML if you wanted to get it from them?  I know dresses take forever (ordered mine in August for next June), but I would hope I could postpone the sash decision until at least this spring without losing the ML option.

I'm not sure about sash ordering time.  I ordered my dress in June and was told it would take six months.  When I asked about the sash, my sales consultant said it was definitely something I could sit and wait on until closer to the wedding.  Kinda vague, but sounds as though they're easier to get in.  I'm still looking too, so keep me posted if you come up with anything.  What color sash are you hoping for?  Latte as well?

I need to buy a sash for my gown, too. It's a lace sheath, and I think the bridal consultant probably put a Monique Lhuillier sash on me. I didn't ask who the designer was or how much it cost, but it felt like really nice satin and it was a super-fancy shop.

Anyway, I've found a couple of Etsy sellers that could work.

This seller's sashes are dupioni and 3" wide, but she says you can customize them to make them wider/longer, so maybe you could ask for satin too?

And here's another sash making seller. I think she can do custom orders.

This seller says she can do custom colors:

ah - thanks very much for the suggestions!  I will definitely check them out.

Random/embarrassing question, but what IS etsy?  People always talk about it and I've checked it out, but is it just an online marketplace for any and all things?

@MrsNYC2B: its an online store (actually a bunch of stores) owned by people who have their own little shops for everything handmade, vintage, interesting.

i absolutely love etsy! i have gotten my caketopper and my headband there so far :)
