@CBWFlove:  That’s so weird. I have no idea what could be causing it, but I hope you to get feeling better!

Keep pushing your doctor to figure out what is going on and doing more tests, especially if it continues!

There is actually such a thing as a false negative for mono.

My sister was SUPER sick – so sick she ended up in the hosptial. They tested her for Mono because she had all the symptoms but the test came back negative. So they tested her for all of these craaaaaaaazy bizarre diseases.

Turns out it was just a false negative. She had mono.

Have you taken any meds for symptoms? Viral diseases are almost always all about dealing with the symptoms.

I had mono like symptoms for about two weeks before going to the doctor and testing negative. I went back about a week later and tested positive. I think it can sometimes take awhile to get a positive and you can also get a false negative.

I’ve heard of people getting false negatives for mono.

I’ve actually had mono twice and it sucked.  By far, though, the first time was the worst.  When I was first diagnosed in high school, I had been sick for a couple of weeks before my doctor did a blood test.  I hope you feel better soon.  By the way, if your throat hurts a lot and swallowing is hugely uncomfortable, I felt like using a straw helped.

@CBWFlove:  I wouldn’t worry too much. If its mono it will eventually go with out any antivirals… they don’t do much. I hope you feel better!

If its bothering you too much you should go for a second opinion though!

@CBWFlove:  My sister had debilitating mono-like symptons once a month for six months. The ended up removing her tonsils and adenoids, and she’s been fine ever since!

It could just be a virus that’s clinging. Have you been getting enough sleep? Chugging fluids? I know finals is a rough time of year, plus the holidays, things get busy. I hope you feel better soon!!
