Hi!
I'm in a similar situation! My family's out of town, and I'm in Texas too! Honestly, it seems that no matter the city, it's cheaper to head away from the city center. I'm in Houston, and all the venues in our price range are in the burbs or in neighboring cities (The Woodlands, Conroe, etc.). Ultimately, what decided it for me is that, I didn't want to plan my wedding from out of town. It's a hassle, it puts a lot of pressure on your out of town family, and involves lots of flights back and forth.
And if you're in Dallas, search under the vendors tab... There's a place called A&M Gardens that I don't think is too far from you, and looks GORGEOUS! Good luck! :-)

I love the title and I'm happy to see I'm not the only one pushing out and already looking at the great inspiration on this site!
My biggest dilemma right now is wedding location! My family lives in New Mexico but I live in Texas. So all the factors of:
Where is it overall cheaper?
Where is it easier?
Where is it best!?!
Just saw an article come out placing Dallas in one of the more expensive places to have a wedding and judging by the research I've done thus far, I don't doubt it! ... do they still sell Calgon?
