Just curious how often all of you treat yourself to new clothes? Also, how much would you spend on a monthly basis?(on average)
Myself i'm a bit of a clothes horse so I'm trying to cut down in this area of my budget.
although i've tried, i just can't cut shopping out of my budget, haha and it doesn't help i work a block from the mall! grrrr......
It totally varies for me. There are months where I buy $0 in new clothes and other months where I spend multiple hundred dollars.
I don't have a specific budget or limit for it.
ATM mine is under $50 as im not buying new clothese as apart of my saving for wedding strategy :)
I have $100 in the budget but I don't spend that much. I was buying a lot of clothes before for work and now I'm trying to replace all my college casual stuff with adult casual but I'm doing it gradually and with sales.
I'd say on average $50-100/month. It seems like every month we need to replace something or buy a new dress/shirt for some party. Some months it's a bit more if we both need to replace shoes or whatever.
I don't do "monthly" clothing shopping. So zero dollars? lol
I get clothes when I see something I like & have the extra money. But I don't just go shopping for clothes every month.
I try not to buy new clothes but then I go to Target and I can't help myself lol. I probably spend $200 ish per month on clothing, shoes and accessories.
It varies. Sometimes I don't buy anything new and other times I'll shop several times in one month. I never spend more than $200 in one go, though.
I'm the $300 and up... I usually pick up a few new pieces each month.
I'm guessing on average about 50-100/month. I don't spend a set amount though. I buy it when I need it, but I don't spend it without thought.
I very very rarely buy new clothes. Maybe a couple things under $50 every few months? I want to wait until I lose weight to buy things too, its good motivation, haha.
Right now, $0. We are in house buying mode, and have eliminated that sort of spending for the time being. We'd rather have lots of money left over after purchasing our house to start making it more like home ASAP, rather than spend now on frivolities and have to save up later for the new furniture and whatnot.
I dont do monthly clothes shopping, and since buying a house that is in the middle of no where, and not passing any shops and malls on the way to work I barely go. I do a ton of online shopping and end up returning most stuff. Last year I spent 870 on clothing, for me and my husband. (mostly me probably). So 70/month?
I'm going to say 50-100... I dont' buy new clothes every month, I buy when I need something or I can get a good deal on something.
I live abroad and don't do shopping here, so when we travel we usually buy about $1k worth of clothes, so I said seasonally, but that averaged $350/month. Yikes!!
It used to be a lot - i'd shop every new season! But, since we packed our stuff up to move cross country and weeded out our wardrobes, I realized how much money I was spending on stuff I rarely, if ever, wear. So now, I only buy high quality stuff I know will last, that I am absolutely dying to get. It has helped tremendously! I only buy a few items a year now, which is great for our budget, and closet space!
Pre-wedding planning? Or now? The amount has dropped considerably since all our money is going towards the wedding.
I cannot wait for my first post-wedding shopping spree.
The vast majority of my clothes come from Salvation Army - best store around. Seriously. I only buy jeans, underwear, socks and boots elsewhere.
I said 50-100 because some months I buy nothing and others I may spend 200. It just depends on my mood and what sales are going on! Example: This weekend. Got an e-coupon for J.Crew, couldn't let it go to waste and found tons of cute spring/summer stuff. Needless to say I won't be buying any clothes for the next month or so.
Um, nothing. If I need something once a year, I get it :) And I thrift shop for most things- vintage dresses, sweaters, shirts, all, except for my designer jeans (I'm tall, I have to!) which I maybe get one pair a year.
@KatieKitKat: Too much. Over 300 on average (I'll go some months where I only spend 100 or so and others where I go way over 300, it's bad). Although I will say when I do buy things, I try to get amazing deals. For example I just spent about 274 total on 2 dresses that retail about 400 dollars each!
100-150 on average. Some months nothing but others i can spend alot! I have a huge online shopping addiction to The Limited!
@KatieKitKat: I haven't bought new clothes in a while. The last clothing I purchase was a long sleeve last fall.
I only buy clothes when absolutely necassay usaully around $50 every 3 months. Although, this is also because my budget is extremely tight (stupid student loans!). It may be different if I had more disposable income.
I averaged around 200 a month last year, I need to cut back...
WELLLL...right now I'm paying off all of my credit card debt plus saving for the wedding, so I've had to totally cut out shopping for clothes :( The only time I buy clothes for myself is when I get a gift card for somewhere that I can buy clothes. Once all of that is paid off, I'll probably try to budget myself to $100-150 a month.
Well I generally don't buy clothes every month. But I might get a shirt if I like it, or a couple airs of jeans a year. This month I get to buy a new spring wardrobe my hubby said, so I'm getting pretty excited! He should be scared, very scared! lol
I like to say not too much.. but when I think of it, probably each week I am buying something. last week was a faux fur vest for $68 the week before was a pair of booties for $17. I work in sales, and a lot of my customers are clothing stores. So I am constantly going in to see them, and admiring all the pretty clothes! *sigh*
I can go months and months without shopping, and then I go on a big shopping spree. It's been about 6 months since I've been clothes shopping at all and just this last week I went on a major spree. Averaging it all out... maybe $50 a month?
$0 for the most part. I hardly ever buy new clothes! It's just in our budget to do so or I'd rather spend $$ on things like going out to dinner or doing things with friends. If I need some new clothes then I'll factor that into my budget.
I go maybe every 2-3 months, but usually when stuff is on sale or I have bigtime coupons......so a 'spree' for me is spending $150 in one trip, lol. Clothes shopping is one area I really try to save money.
If I hit my goal weight by summer, I get to buy a bunch of really cute clothes :) One nice thing is that my work does a rewards program for 'wellness' (basically working out, eating right) so I earn gift cards from that. Right now I have over $100 of that money sitting there for the next time I go to Kohl's, so it saves me even more :)
In the past year, I've spent maybe $200 on clothes (at the most). Generally, that's $80 at the end of the summer and $80 during the winter. The remaining is spent on things that come up. This year was a little weird, because I got pregnant so had to invest in some maternity clothes :) In the past, I've spent no where near $200 a year.
It varies from month to month. Some months I will spend $0 and other months $100-$200.
I bet I'm not the only one who's thought about how many pieces of clothing I could buy for the price of a freaking wedding!?!?!?
Everything except for my jeans and undies comes from thrift stores. My hubby is a full time nursing student and I work two jobs so that he can stay that way. We spend average probably about $15 per month on clothes combined haha. We both wear ridiculously difficult to find jean sizes though so we generally buy them new! I envy the $200+ women... maybe someday (:
I love going shopping so about $200 a month. I it like an addiction. This weekend for example I did not buy any clothes and i even stayed home on Sunday to wash all of our clothes instead of buying new ones but when I go out it is hard to resist the urge to buy new clothes especially when on sale. Also I love to buy new clothes for special occasions such as the cruise I am going on for Spring Break in a few weeks I just bought a new dress last weekend.
Oh man, I don't even want to think about this. I just bought some stuff at Lululemon today. Whoops. Haha.
Depends...I have months I do not buy a single item of clothing...then other months I spend 400$ on clothing. But on avg 100-150
oh lord... there is really NO telling. I seriously feel like I am constantly shopping, somehow!
