Without ever having seen the files or knowing what settings your photog used, if you're looking at them 100% resolution, they're going to be a bit grainy because you're staring at individual pixels. From what I've seen in your previous posts, your pictures mostly aren't blurry. They are sharp and you can sharpen them even more in photoshop - a lot of pros sharpen photos for web display beyond what the lens actually achieves in sharpness.
Shrink the file back down to the size you'd see them if they were in print, and are the problems still there?
I do see some technical issues with the photos you showed. The first set you showed was well exposed but not tack sharp - maybe the photog didn't have a really sharp lens or didn't set the aperture correctly so that you're both in focus, but I can't tell. The second set, they're sharp, but they're underexposed (there are shadows on your face).... it's really hard for me to give a preliminary judgment without seeing everything full size and seeing the entire session but that's just what I'm getting so far.
Also, you mentioned that this is the second shooter... so you actually haven't worked with your primary photog yet, or that you hired a second shooter as your main photographer?
we had planned to have our e-pics done by the head shooter, but she wasn't available when we wanted to have them taken...she offered her second shooter to us at a lower rate. Also, since she wasn't available for our wedding date she offered her second shooter to shoot our wedding. We decided to have the e-pics done with her to see if she was worth booking for our wedding. We are still in the midst of finding a photographer for our wedding day as we weren't as impressed with the photos as we would have hoped to have been.
Thank you so much for your insight, I really appreciate it. Here are some other pics we have posted from the first set we had received. The second one (on the bench) I really like, but our faces were out of focus...upon closer examination you can see this. I am probably being too critical anyway.
ah yes, that one is definitely out of focus. Unless the photograph were a winner I wouldn't even have included that in the pics I'd show my clients, but all the other photos in your first set are reasonably sharp. I think that it's good to be critical, the second shooter probably has less experience... if you want a better photographer, you obviously will have to pay more... good luck!
Lol - told you it wasn't the pixels :-)
But really, my heart is totally dropped right now you're still having issues with them. That tells me that you shouldn't hire this "2nd" shooter and find someone else. You don't need these stresses on technical issues that should be spot on during your wedding. Who knows, maybe you're new photog will offer a free e-sesh :-)
Please don't stress though. So much better you caught this now than later!
I should add that the main reason I would go elsewhere is because of the "pixel" issue. That was pretty much a lie...
thanks so much for the input...we do plan to go with another photographer for the wedding, but are still in the searching process.

So if you have been following my past threads I had my ups and downs when it came to my e-pics...the first set I saw I didn't care for. The second set I really liked, but was worried about clarity issues. I talked to the photographer aboout this and she said it was only because of the posting and that the pixels had to be shrunk. But, we finally got our cd in the mail and I got to view the pics on my computer at home at their 100% resolution and I was dissapointed. The photos look grainy and most of them are out of focus . I am not sure if I am just being too picky here and don't know if I should say something about it. I understand that we didn't pay much and that we took the risk using the second shooter, but should I let this go? I feel awkward because I already told the photographer that I liked the second set. But, upon the closer viewing now I am not sure and don't know if I should just forget about it.
